Polyvinylpyridine additives for nonaqueous electrolytes activating lithium rechargeable electrochemical cells

An electrolyte comprising an organic solvent, a lithium salt, and a polymer additive comprised of repeating vinyl units joined to one or more heterocyclic amine moieties is described. The heterocyclic amine contains five to ten ring atoms, inclusive. An electrochemical cell is also disclosed. The preferred cell comprises a negative electrode which intercalates with lithium, a positive electrode comprising an electrode active material which intercalates with lithium, and the electrolyte of the present invention activating the negative and the positive electrodes.

NON-AQUEOUS LIQUID ELECTROLYTE, ELECTRICITY STORAGE DEVICE USING SAME, AND PHOSPHORUS COMPOUND USED THEREIN

In the formula, R.sup.10 and R.sup.20 are each independently an organic group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkynyl group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, and an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, or a lithium atom; and X is a polar group (i) containing a —C(═O) group, a —P(═O) group, or an —S(═O).sub.2 group, a polar group (ii) containing a —CN group or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, in which a part of hydrogen atoms is substituted with a fluorine atom, or a 4- to 7-membered ring polar group (iii) containing a —C(═O)—O— group or a —C(═O)—N— group, provided that when X is a 4- to 7-membered ring polar group (iii) containing a —C(═O)—N— group, at least one of R.sup.10 and R.sup.20 is a lithium atom.

LITHIUM PRIMARY BATTERY

A lithium primary battery including a battery case, an electrode group housed in the battery case, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The non-aqueous electrolyte contains a non-aqueous solvent, a solute, and an additive. The electrode group includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed therebetween. The negative electrode includes a metal lithium or lithium alloy foil, and has a shape having a longitudinal direction and a lateral direction, with a long tape attached to at least one principal surface of the negative electrode along the longitudinal direction. The tape includes a resin base material and an adhesive layer, and has a width of 0.5 mm to 3 mm. The additive includes a phosphorus compound having a PO.sub.n structure having a phosphorus atom and n oxygen atoms bonded to the phosphorus atom, where n=3 or 4.

Electrolyte and electrochemical device

This application provides an electrolyte and an electrochemical device, wherein the electrolyte comprises an additive A and an additive B, the additive A is present in an amount of 0.001% to 10% by mass in the electrolyte, and the additive B is present in an amount of 0.1% to 10% by mass in the electrolyte. This application can improve the cycle performance and storage performance of the electrochemical device, especially the cycle performance and storage performance of the electrochemical device under high temperature and high voltage conditions.

Lithium battery

A lithium battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode containing lithium, and a nonaqueous electrolyte having lithium-ion conductivity, wherein the positive electrode contains at least one selected from the group consisting of manganese oxide and graphite fluoride, and a powdered or fibrous carbon material is attached to at least part of the surface of the negative electrode opposite the positive electrode. Further, the nonaqueous electrolyte includes a nonaqueous solvent, a solute, a first additive, and a second additive, the solute contains LiClO.sub.4, the first additive is LiBF.sub.4, and the second additive is a salt having an inorganic anion that contains sulfur and fluorine.

Lithium primary battery

A positive electrode, a negative electrode containing lithium, and a nonaqueous electrolyte having lithium ion conductivity are installed. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains a nonaqueous solvent and a solute. The positive electrode contains a positive electrode active material containing at least manganese dioxide, a conductive agent, and a binding agent and further contains an oxide and sulfate of a rare-earth element.

Electrolyte and electrochemical device

Energy storage materials, and specifically, an electrolyte and an electrochemical device, where the electrolyte includes an additive A and an additive B, the additive A is selected from multi-cyano six-membered N-heterocyclic compounds represented by Formula I-1, Formula I-2 and Formula I-3, and combinations thereof, and the additive B is at least one sulfonate compound. The electrochemical device includes the above electrolyte. The electrolyte can effectively passivate surface activity of the positive electrode material, inhibit oxidation of the electrolyte, and effectively reduce gas production of the battery, meanwhile the electrolyte can be adsorbed on catalytically active sites of the graphite surface to form a stable SEI film, thereby effectively reducing side reactions. The electrochemical device using the electrolyte has good high temperature and high voltage cycle performance and storage performance. ##STR00001##

The negative electrode includes a lithium-based material. The electrolytic solution includes an alkali metal compound represented by Formula (1) and a dicarboxylic anhydride compound represented by Formula (2).
