This application relates to a method of edge sealing for a secondary lithium battery, including: (1) drawing a 3D model of a battery edge of a secondary lithium battery, and inputting it into a 3D printer; (2) positioning the secondary lithium battery in a 3D printing area, and fixing a relative position of the secondary lithium battery in the 3D printing area; (3) stimulating, by the 3D printer, the battery edge according to the 3D model and setting a printing path; (4) adding edge sealing glue in a printing head of the 3D printer, the printing head moves according to the set printing path and meantime performs at least one time of printing, so that printed edge sealing glue covers the battery edge; (5) solidifying the edge sealing glue. The method of edge sealing of this application has broader application, which can be applied to batteries of any shape.

SECONDARY BATTERY

A secondary battery includes: a cylindrical can including a first region, a second region, and a first bent portion extending between the first region and the second region on a circumferential surface of the can; an electrode assembly accommodated in the can; and a cap assembly at a top end of the can and sealing the can. The first bent portion is bent such that an angle between the first region and the second region is in a range of about 90° to about 100°; the first region of the can partially covers a top surface of the cap assembly facing an exterior side of the can, and the second region of the can surrounds side surfaces of the cap assembly.

The opening of the positive electrode casing is caulked to the negative electrode casing side to seal an accommodation space. A caulking tip end in the opening of the positive electrode casing is disposed in an inward direction of the negative electrode casing than a tip end of the negative electrode casing. A diameter d of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is in a range of 4 mm to 12 mm, a height h1 of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is in a range of 1 mm to 3 mm, a side surface portion of the positive electrode casing is formed in a curved surface shape, a radius of curvature R is set in a range of 0.8 mm to 1.1 mm, and a height h2 of the positive electrode casing is in a range of 65% to 90% with respect to the height h1 of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.
