GUIDED WAVE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM WITH RESOURCE ALLOCATION AND METHODS FOR USE THEREWITH

In accordance with one or more embodiments, a transmission device includes a receiver configured to receive an interfering signal via an antenna. A controller is configured to generate interference data based on the interfering signal. A communications interface is configured to send the interference data to a network element of a network and further configured to receive an allocation of a plurality of guided electromagnetic wave resource blocks. A transmitter is configured to generate electromagnetic signals conveying data, in accordance with the allocation of the plurality of guided electromagnetic wave resource blocks. A coupler configured to generate guided electromagnetic waves in response to the electromagnetic signals, wherein the guided electromagnetic waves propagate, without requiring an electrical return path, along a surface of a transmission medium of a distributed antenna system.

Structure comprising at least a first element bonded to a carrier having a closed metallic channel waveguide formed therein

A structure can include a first element and a carrier bonded to the first element along an interface. A waveguide can be defined at least in part along the interface between the first element and the carrier. The waveguide can comprise an effectively closed metallic channel and a dielectric material within the effectively closed metallic channel, as viewed from a side cross-section of the structure. Various millimeter-wave or sub-terahertz components or circuit structures can also be created based on the waveguide structures disclosed herein.

In accordance with one or more embodiments, a dielectric coupler includes a neck portion configured to receive a first electromagnetic wave from a hollow waveguide. A flared portion is configured to generate, responsive to the first electromagnetic wave, a second electromagnetic wave along a surface of a transmission medium, wherein the flared portion at least partially surrounds the transmission medium, wherein the second electromagnetic wave propagates along the surface of the transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path. Multiport distribution network

A multiport distribution network is provided that supports N inputs and N outputs, where N>1, the multipart distribution network providing an independent distribution path extending from each input to each output, each path being formed from a sequence of at least two fundamental units. Each fundamental unit comprises a circuit formed of multiple resonator cavities and having n input ports for receiving respective input signals, and n output ports for outputting respective output signals, where n>1, and wherein the circuit is configured to: (i) at each input port, split an input signal received at that input port into n equal signal components and provide each of the n signal components to a respective output port of the circuit; and (ii) at each output port, combine the signal components received from the n input ports to form an output signal for that output port. The multipart distribution network is configured to apply the same filter transfer function along each independent distribution path.

TUNABLE ANTENNA COUPLING UNIT (ACU) FOR MICROWAVE DIGITAL RADIOS

An antenna coupling unit (ACU) is provided. The ACU includes a transmitter port, a receiver port, and an antenna port; a circulator isolating the transmitter port from the receiver port; a first waveguide coupling the transmitter port with the circulator. The transmitter port receives an outgoing from first external circuitry. The first waveguide includes a first filter that filters the outgoing before routing the outgoing signal to the antenna port. The ACU further includes a second waveguide coupling the circulator with the receiver port. The second waveguide includes a second filter that filters an incoming received through the antenna port before routing the incoming signal to the receiver port. The receiver port provides the filtered incoming to second external circuitry. The ACU further includes a third waveguide coupling the antenna port with the circulator. At least one of the first filter and the second filter is a tunable filter.

An electromagnetic wave transmission device includes a transmission line module and a hollow waveguide module. The transmission line module includes: a plurality of electrically conductive members stacked with interspaces therebetween, the plurality of electrically conductive members including three or more electrically conductive members; and a plurality of artificial magnetic conductors each located between two adjacent electrically conductive members among the plurality of electrically conductive members. Among the plurality of electrically conductive members, at least one electrically conductive member located between two endmost electrically conductive members is shaped as a plate having at least one slit. The at least one slit extends to an edge of the at least one electrically conductive member. The hollow waveguide module includes at least one hollow waveguide having an aperture plane which is opposed via a gap to an open end of the at least one slit at the edge.

Magic-Y splitter

In one aspect, a Y-splitter includes a first arm having a first port, a second arm having a second port, a third arm having a third port, a fourth arm having a fourth port and a Y-split portion having a first end coupled to the first arm, a second end coupled to the second arm, a third end coupled to the third arm and a fourth end coupled to the fourth arm. The Y-split portion splits a signal from a first signal path from the first port into a second signal on a second signal path and a third signal on a third signal path. A first angle between the second signal path and the first signal path is greater than 90 degrees and a second angle between the third signal path and the first signal path is greater than 90 degrees.
