Multiple antennas on meter enclosure
An electricity meter includes: a housing; a plurality of antennas, each of the plurality of antennas comprising a contacting portion, the contacting portion formed on an interior surface of the housing; a printed circuit board (PCB) disposed within the housing, the PCB including a plurality of communications circuits, each of the plurality of communications circuits operable to communicate using different communications technologies; and a plurality of contacts disposed on the PCB, each of the plurality of contacts configured to provide a solderless electrical connection between contacting portions of one or more of the plurality of antennas and one of the plurality of communications circuits when the PCB is installed in the housing.

A field device of automation technology, including: an at least partially metal housing having at least one housing opening; a field device electronics arranged within the housing; a cable gland, which is located in the housing opening, wherein at least one cable extends through the cable gland into the housing and is connected with the field device electronics such that wired communication can occur via the cable with the field device electronics; and an antenna for transmitting and/or receiving electromagnetic waves having at least one determined wavelength, wherein the antenna is situated in the cable gland such that the antenna at least partially surrounds the cable, and wherein the antenna is connected with the field device electronics via a coaxial cable such that wireless communication can occur via the antenna with the field device electronics.
ULTRA-WIDEBAND ANTENNA
An ultra-wideband antenna is formed from a coaxial cable passed through the center of a conductive tube. The center conductor of the coaxial cable is connected to an end of the conductive tube, and the shield of the coaxial cable is not electrically connected to any conductor. Two ferrite beads are disposed serially on the cable beneath the tube, spaced apart from the tube and spaced apart from one another. A centering spacer maintains the coaxial cable within the center of the tube.

A method of measuring a characteristic of a fluid inside a fluid distribution system includes receiving a fluid inside a channel of a vein of a stem of a hydrant; recording data corresponding to the characteristic of the fluid with a sensing device, the sensing device including: a housing; a vein in sealing contact with the housing, the vein defining a channel extending from a lower end of the vein to an upper end of the vein; a sensor facing the channel and in sealing contact with the vein; at least one battery in electrical communication with the sensor and positioned within the housing; and an antenna in electrical communication with the sensor; and transmitting the data to the antenna.
Wireless intelligent electronic device
An intelligent electronic device (IED) is provided. The IED includes a metering sub-assembly and an input base module sub-assembly. The metering sub-assembly is hinged to the input base module sub-assembly, where when in an open position, various cables, connectors, and input/output cards/modules are accessible. Various input/output cards/modules are interchangeable to add/change functionality and/or communication capabilities to the IED. In one embodiment, a communication card is provided with at least one antenna disposed internal or external to a housing of the IED.

There is provided an antenna device including an antenna and a dielectric body. In an internal space which is constituted by plural faces including a first face which is an electrically conductive body, the antenna device is adapted to have a shape to be fit inside a hole in the first face. The antenna device is installed, not protruding from the hole to an outer space. The antenna and the dielectric body are placed in series between the internal space and the outer space.
