Buckle assemblies and associated systems and methods for use with child seats and other restraint systems are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a buckle assembly includes a housing having an opening shaped to receive a first tongue of a first web connector and a second tongue of a second web connector. The buckle assembly also includes a spring having a first ejector arm carrying a first magnet and a second ejector arm carrying a second magnet. A switch assembly is positioned within the housing, and insertion of the tongues into the housing to latch the buckle assembly moves the magnets toward the switch assembly to activate switches in the switch assembly and produce a signal confirming buckle engagement.

A safety belt buckle includes a base and a latch. The base includes a chamber with at least one positioning member disposed therein, and an opening communicating with the chamber. The latch includes a tongue with at least one recess with one open side, is adapted to be inserted into the chamber through the opening. The at least one positioning member is introduced into the at least one recess through the open side thereof to be engaged with the at least one recess when the tongue is inserted into the chamber. By the design mentioned above, the latch could be engaged with the positioning member of the base through the recess. Whereby, the latch still could be engaged with the base securely and would not be released easily and accidentally when any one of the latch and the base is laterally pushed or pulled.

Apparatus and method of locking two devices to each other through a receiver base, a pair of pivoting locking tabs, each having first and second arms extending out from a pivot point, and an insert that is partially engaged within a cavity formed by the receiver base and locking tabs. The receiver base is configured to be engageable with a first device. The insert is configured to be engageable with a second device. An optional push button assembly that has a retractable lip is engageable with the receiver base to block rotational movement of the locking tabs unless the lip of the push button is retracted. The apparatus may also include magnetic actuators and corresponding electronic switches that provide two stage locking and, optionally, provide contact state signaling to an external controller and computer to verify locked/unlocked status of the insert relative to the receiver base cavity and locking tabs.

A locking buckle is formed of a male member with one or more flexible portions having a first position and a second position, and a female member adapted for receiving the flexible portions in the first position and allowing the one or more flexible portions to assume the second position to form a secure engagement with the male member. A rotatable member includes a periphery adapted for tactile engagement, the movable member preventing movement of the one or more flexible portions to the first position in a locked condition and allowing movement of the one or more flexible portions in an unlocked condition. A retainer retains the rotatable member in an opening of the female member. The male member may engage and move the rotatable member from the locked condition to the unlocked condition when inserted into the female member, and a detent may control the movement of the rotatable member.
