2097nm laser resonator and method
A flash lamp pumped CTH:YAG resonating laser and method for operating the laser whereby the laser is capable of lasing at the 2097 nm wavelength. The method for operating at the 2097 nm wavelength include utilizing an output coupler with a lower reflectivity and minimizing the passive losses in the laser. The resulting laser is capable of operating with a lower intra-cavity energy density and increased output energy, decreasing the probability of optical breakdown of the laser components when operated.

Multiple laser cavity apparatus
A multiple cavity laser system includes: a controller configured to operate the system as well as a plurality of laser cavities, each of the laser cavities having an output end wherein, when activated by the controller, an output laser beam is emitted from the output end of each of the laser cavities. The output laser beams when activated are directed, either directly or indirectly, to a rotating mirror. The rotating mirror is operatively connected to the controller and a servo motor. The servo motor, under direction of the controller, redirects the output laser beams along a common optical axis and the output laser beams of the plurality of laser cavities are combined along the common optical axis.
PULSE SLICER IN LASER SYSTEMS
An apparatus (such as a laser-based system) and method for providing optical pulses in a broad range of pulse widths and pulse energies uses a pulse slicer which is configured to slice a predefined portion having a desired pulse width of each of the one or more output optical pulses from a laser oscillator, in which timings of a rising edge and a falling edge of each sliced optical pulse relative to a time instance of a maximum of the corresponding each of the one or more output optical pulses from the laser oscillator, are chosen at least to maximize amplification efficiency of the optical amplifier, which may be located after the pulse slicer, and to provide the one or more amplified output optical pulses each having the desired pulse energy and pulse width.
