GRIPPER JAWS AND BLADES FOR AN INSULATION STRIPPER, AND INSULATION STRIPPER

Gripper jaws for an insulation stripper have a gripping surface and an attachment extension with ribs which run transversely to a longitudinal direction of a cable to be gripped when the gripping surfaces are fitted, and have groove-like recesses corresponding to the ribs and running between the latter. When the gripper jaws are fitted, the ribs can enter into the recesses of the opposing gripper jaw in accordance with the thickness of the cable to be gripped. Blades for an insulation stripper have, on their free ends that run into a blade tip with an acute angle in cross-section, a contour line which has a depression, when seen from a side view in which the contour line forms the termination line of the blade.

Adjustable wire stripper

An adjustable wire stripper has a jaw for positioning a length of cable, a tool body for tangentially contacting the cable, a blade having a cantilevered loading ramp for cutting the insulation off the cable, and a blade angle adjustment shaft driven by an angle adjustment member. A frame member disposed between the jaw and the body adjusts the distance between the jaw and the body to accommodate cables of different diameters. The frame member relatively moves the jaw and the body with respect to each other along a line having a constant sliding angle. The angle adjustment shaft has a flange extending radially outwardly for driving the shaft to different angles of rotation with respect to the body. An optional assist spring bearing opposite the flange urges the flange against the blade angle adjustment member during movement of the flange to reduce backlash of the shaft.

Disclosed herein is a sheathed cable stripping device and method for using same. A method for stripping and cutting non-metallic sheathed cable (NMSC) using a sheathed cable stripper, the method comprising: receiving a non-metallic sheathed cable in a wire channel of the sheathed cable stripper; sliding the non-metallic sheathed cable along the wire channel; cutting and removing the sheathing of the non-metallic sheathed cable by pulling the sheathed cable stripper toward the user. In yet other aspects, the sheathed cable stripper reduces time and labor costs associated with wiring while providing a safer, more effective, and efficient manner for cutting and removing sheathing from non-metallic sheathed cable.

A system for multi-stage crimping of a contact to a wire includes a first crimping die having a first portion of a selected shape defined therein, and a second crimping die having a complementary second portion of the selected shape defined therein. The system also includes the first and second crimping dies being operable to be displaced towards each other and along a first axis during a compression stroke. The first and second crimping dies are also operable to be displaced along a second axis during a closing stroke subsequent to the compression stroke, where the second axis is generally perpendicular to the first axis. In addition, the system includes the first and second crimping dies cooperating to crimp the contact into the selected shape to the wire upon completion of the closing stroke.

Powered cable splitter

The invention is directed to a powered cable splitter. The splitter is comprised of a motor, a blade, a channel, a clamp to secure the tubing within the channel, and a hand grip for activating the motor. To use the splitter, a user places the cable inside of the channel, secures it with the clamp, and then squeezes the hand grip to activate the motor. The motor causes the blade to spin and cut to a specific depth. Rollers within the channel allow the cable to be moved into position before the tubing is cut, creating a cut of limited depth along a preferred length, and thus splitting the cable without damaging the wires within.

WIRE STRIPPING TOOL

A wire stripper operable to strip insulation from a wire, the wire stripper including a battery, a handle portion including a receptacle that receives the battery along a battery insertion axis, a motor, the motor located in the handle portion, the motor including a motor shaft that rotates about a driveline axis. The wire stripper further includes a rotary head coupled to the motor for rotation about a wire insertion axis that is perpendicular to the driveline axis. The rotary head defines a central aperture and the wire insertion axis extends through the central aperture. A blade is coupled to the rotary head for rotation with the rotary head about the wire insertion axis. The blade extends into the central aperture to cut the insulation of the wire passing through the central aperture along the wire insertion axis as the blade rotates about the wire insertion axis.

A wire stripping and cutting tool. The tool includes a pair of arms each including a head end with pliers and a handle end pivotally affixed to one another via a fastener. Each arm of the pair of arms includes a cutting portion disposed on the head portion, and a pair of screw cutting apertures disposed between the cutting portion and the handle portion. A first group of wire stripping notches disposed on the head portion include a first diameter, and a second group of wire stripping notches disposed on the head portion has a second diameter greater than the first diameter. In one embodiment, the first and second group of notches are configured to strip 12.2 and 14.2 gauge wires, respectively. A spring is disposed between each arm, wherein the spring is configured to bias each head portion of each arm in a direction opposing each other.

Cable Stripping Tool

This invention relates to a tool for stripping a surrounding layer from a sheathed cable. A tool for stripping a surrounding layer from an elongate electrical cable of substantially circular cross-sectional shape comprises a tool body having opposed jaws; a cable-receiving channel defined by formations in each of the jaws, the channel being configured to accommodate the end portion of a cable to be stripped with the formations fitting closely against the surrounding layer of the cable; and a cutting blade mounted in one of the jaws and having a cutting end positioned in the channel to penetrate the layer to a pre-set depth. The cutting end of the cutting blade has a cutting edge defined by facets of the blade disposed at an angle to the axis of the channel thereby to sever a helical strip of the surrounding layer from the end portion of a cable received in the channel on rotation of the tool around the cable. The jaws are resiliently separable and move away from each other from an initial position to allow the cable-receiving channel to accommodate therein the end portion of a cable of a diameter greater than the size of the channel when the jaws are in the initial position, to ensure the formations fit closely against the surrounding layer to ensure the pre-set depth of cut is delivered into the layer.
