A rotary actuator includes a motor, an output shaft, and a speed reducer. The motor includes a motor shaft rotating about an axial direction. The output shaft is disposed in parallel with the motor shaft. The speed reducer reduces a rotational speed of the motor and transmits rotation of the motor at a reduced rotational speed to the output shaft. The speed reducer includes a parallel-shaft type reducer that has a drive gear on the motor shaft and a driven gear on the output shaft. One side and the other side in the axial direction are defined as a first side and a second side, respectively. The motor is located on the first side of the speed reducer in the axial direction. The driven gear includes a teeth portion having a gear end surface on the first side of the teeth portion. The motor includes a stator having a stator end surface on the second side of the stator. The gear end surface is located on the first side of the stator end surface in the axial direction.

The assembly is configured to receive three winding phases including a first winding phase, a second winding phase, and a third winding phase. The first tooth and the second tooth form adjacent pairs of the stator teeth including two of the three winding phases, and the adjacent pairs of the stator teeth are distributed around the opening and form an opening configured to receive a rotor.

In addition, as the stator is made of a grain-oriented core, core loss may be reduced and the motor efficiency may be improved.

The stator further includes at least one sensor located between two elementary block. The at least one sensor being configured to measure at least one parameter of the rotor.

A laundry appliance includes a tub having a rear wall that includes a plurality of structural ribs. A drive hub has a bearing housing insert injection molded into the rear wall. A stator is attached to the drive hub at stator fastening portions exposed through the rear wall of the tub. A reinforcing cap is fixed to the structural ribs of the rear wall of the tub. The bearing housing of the drive hub extends rearwards through a portion of the reinforcing cap. The stator fastening portions are exposed through the reinforcing cap.
