Automatic Leveling of Speech Content

Embodiments are disclosed for automatic leveling of speech content. In an embodiment, a method comprises: receiving, using one or more processors, frames of an audio recording including speech and non-speech content; for each frame: determining, using the one or more processors, a speech probability; analyzing, using the one or more processors, a perceptual loudness of the frame; obtaining, using the one or more processors, a target loudness range for the frame; computing, using the one or more processors, gains to apply to the frame based on the target loudness range and the perceptual loudness analysis, where the gains include dynamic gains that change frame-by-frame and that are scaled based on the speech probability; and applying the gains to the frame so that a resulting loudness range of the speech content in the audio recording fits within the target loudness range.

Provided herein are apparatus and methods for a multi-stage signal-processing circuit. The signal-processing circuit can include multiple configurable stages that can be cascaded and configured to process an input signal. Control circuitry can be used to select an output of the configurable stages. Serial data can be recovered with good signal integrity using a signal monitor with the configurable stages by virtually placing the signal monitor on a buffered output node.

Linking audio amplification gain reduction per channel and across frequency ranges
11689169 · 2023-06-27 · ·

A method for reducing gain for audio amplification by an audio system having a tweeter channel, an optional midrange channel, and a woofer channel. Gain of the woofer channel is reduced simultaneously with reducing gain of the tweeter channel, both responsive to detecting the same instance of overloading (overdriving) the woofer channel. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

METHOD FOR LIMITING AMPLIFIER INPUT CURRENT TO AVOID LOW VOLTAGE CONDITIONS

A predictive brownout prevention system may be configured to prevent brownout of an audio output signal. Particularly, the brownout prevention system may be configured to receive information indicative of an amplitude of the audio input signal, receive information indicative of a condition of the power supply, receive information indicative of one or more of the following: 1) adaptive estimates of power supply conditions; 2) anticipated effects of power supply capacitance; and 3) condition of a load impedance, determine from the received information whether a brownout condition exists, and responsive to determining the brownout condition exists, generate the selectable attenuation signal to reduce an amplitude of the audio output signal such that the signal path attenuates the audio input signal or a derivative thereof in order to prevent brownout prior to propagation to the audio output of a portion of the audio input signal having the brownout condition.

Calibration method for hearing protection devices

Embodiments relate generally to hearing protection devices which incorporate a calibration mode which allows the user to perform a calibration test to determine an individualized hearing threshold. Embodiments of the device may also comprise a normal mode to prevent input signals greater than the individualized hearing threshold from being transmitted to the user's ear canal. In addition, embodiments may comprise a normal mode configured to limit input signals to less than or equal to a standard industry threshold in the case no calibration test has been completed by the user. This may increase user comfort and prevent hearing damage.

Simulated auditory space for online meetings

A virtual meeting system is discussed herein. An online meeting application places participants in their own virtual location with a common virtual meeting space and adjusts the audio volume and balance on a listener's device to simulate the virtual location of the participant who is speaking. The application includes a trigonometric function to adjust the audio volume and balance based on the location of the listener relative to the speaker. The application can also permit the participants to select their own virtual locations upon entry to the virtual meeting, can assign a virtual location or adjust audio based on a participant's settings, or can allow for parallel meetings.

A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CLOSE-DOWN POP REDUCTION
20170317651 · 2017-11-02 ·

A close-down pop reduction system and a method for close-down pop reduction in an audio amplifier assembly are disclosed. The switching power conversion system comprises a forward path having a compensator and a switching power stage and a signal path from an output of a comparator in the switching power stage to a sequence control unit. The signal path includes a close-down timing circuit configured to provide a timing signal. The sequence control unit is configured to eliminate the input signal, increase the switch frequency of the close-down pop reduction system and disable the switching power stage at a moment in time within a PWM pulse of the switching power stage. Hereby, it is e.g. possible to minimize the audible pop during close-down of audio amplifier assemblies.
