METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ADJUSTING A BANDWIDTH OF A SIGMA DELTA CONVERTER
A method and apparatus for adjusting a bandwidth of a sigma delta converter by adjusting a reference voltage provided to the sigma delta converter. The apparatus includes a switched capacitor digital-to-analog converter in the feedback loop of the sigma delta modulator. The sigma delta modulator determines the bandwidth mode of the converter and adjusts the reference voltage to deliver high performance functionality. In one embodiment, a multi-bit digital signal is received by the digital-to-analog converter. The reference voltage is provided to multiple capacitive circuits of the digital-to-analog converter and the capacitive circuits are activated and deactivated based on the multi-bit digital signal. The digital-to-analog converter, thus, provides a feedback analog signal using dynamic element matching.
Delta-sigma modulator having transconductor network for dynamically tuning loop filter coefficients
A dynamically tunable transconductor includes a voltage-to-current converter stage for generating a current signal based on a voltage signal; and a current scaling stage for scaling the current signal by a scaling factor to achieve a particular transconductance. Current scaling stage includes a coarse tune mechanism having an associated coarse tune step and a fine tune mechanism having an associated fine tune step, where the scaling factor is a ratio of the coarse tune step to the fine tune step. A delta-sigma modulator can implement the transconductor to generate loop filter coefficients by dynamically tuning the transconductance to achieve a particular resistance.
Bandwidth extension of oversampled analog-to-digital converters by means of gain boosting
A digitized system operates to receive one or more analog signals from a sensor or other component and convert the analog signals to one or more digital signals. An analog-to-digital converter comprises a loop filter, a quantizer and one or more feedback digital-to-analog converters. A gain component provides coefficients along different points of a signal processing path to extend a bandwidth of the analog-to-digital converter. The gain component can modify a signal transfer function of the analog-to-digital converter while preserving a noise transfer function in order to process a signal in a higher frequency band in an extended mode of operation than other signals being processed in a normal operating mode.
Apparatus, sensor and electronic device
An apparatus includes a plurality of analog-to-digital conversion units that performs analog-to-digital conversion using modulation by comparing a signal output from a plurality of pixels to a reference voltage; and a plurality of supply units that supply one of a plurality of different reference voltages to each of the plurality of analog-to-digital conversion units. The plurality of supply units supply different reference voltages to adjacent analog-to-digital conversion units among the plurality of analog-to-digital conversion units.
