Piece of seating furniture having a backward-tilt stop

A piece of seating furniture includes a backrest and a seat. The seat is operatively connected to the backrest. The backrest and the seat, during a pivoting of the backrest, open one another at an opening angle. A backward-tilt stop is included for limiting relative movement of the seat and the backrest. The backward-tilt stop is situated in extension of a vertical support of a pedestal.

A seating furniture includes a seat device and a backrest device connected via at least one first rotatable coupling in respective coupling portions (P) of the backrest device and at rear portion (B) of the seat device. A base supports the seat device and the backrest device. The backrest device comprises a portion extending in a direction towards the base and past the first rotatable coupling, and the portion is rotatably coupled to and supported on the base via at least one respective link arm. The seat device is rotatably coupled to and supported on the base via a second rotatable coupling attached closer to front end (F) of the seat device than the first rotatable coupling. A lockable control device controls the movements between the backrest device and the seat device. The construction is well-balanced, and low forces are required to adjust the chair in all positions.

Chair with adjustable backrest

A folding chair has a frame having first and second front legs and first and second rear legs. A back rest is operatively pivotally connected to the rear legs. A seat is slidingly connected to the first and second front legs and pivotally connected to the back rest, thereby enabling the angle of the backrest relative to the rear leg to be adjustable as the seat slides toward and away from the front legs.

SYNCHRONIZED MECHANISM FOR AN OFFICE CHAIR

A mechanism is provided for an office chair. In order to accomplish an advantageous motion characteristic of the mechanism and thus of the office chair, a synchronized mechanism provides a correlated seat/backrest movement of an office chair. The backrest support is connected to the seat support not directly and immediately, but via a coupling element. The force applied to the seat support upon swiveling the backrest support is applied to the seat support solely via the coupling element. Two guide element pairs are provided to guide the seat support relative to the base support.

CABLE CONNECTOR FOR A CHAIR FUNCTION CONTROLLER AND OPERATOR
20180242743 · 2018-08-30 ·

Disclosed herein is a chair of the kind that is shipped to a user disassembled. The chair includes at least one chair function controller (i.e., a paddle) that is actuated to control a chair function operator (e.g., a gas cylinder located below and coupled to the chair seat). During assembly, a pair of cable sections are mechanically and serially connected to one another at a force responsive connector block that is located within and slidable through a cable connector housing at the bottom of the chair seat. By virtue of connecting the first and second cables together at the connector block, the chair function controller paddle is connected to the chair function operator so that an actuation of the controller causes a pulling force to be applied to the chair function operator to enable the seat or back of the chair to be displaced.

Furniture member with wall-proximity mechanism

A furniture member may include a base frame, a seat assembly, a drive rod, a legrest mechanism, and a wall-proximity mechanism. The seat assembly is supported by the base frame and includes a seat frame, a seat bottom, a seatback and a legrest. The legrest is movable relative to the base frame and seat frame between a retracted position and an extended position. The seatback is movable relative to the base frame and seat frame between an upright position and a reclined position. The drive rod is rotatably mounted to the seat frame. The legrest mechanism is attached to the legrest and the seat frame and is driven by the drive rod. The wall-proximity mechanism is connected to the base frame and to the seat assembly and tilts the seat frame rearward relative to the base frame and translates the seat frame forward relative to the base frame.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ADAPTING THE CONTOUR OF A BACK ELEMENT TO THE POSTURE OF A PERSON
20240389757 · 2024-11-28 ·

A device and a method for adapting a contour of a back element to a posture of a person. The device includes a seat element and aback element connected to the seat element in a tiltable way, for accommodating a person, and a control unit. A bearing pressure sensor is configured for measuring an actual bearing pressure distribution exerted by the person. The back element includes a first actuating element for changing the contour of the back element. The control unit selects a predetermined posture and a characteristic target posture parameter matching the predetermined posture, calculates an actual posture parameter from the actual bearing pressure distribution and compares the actual posture parameter with the target posture parameter, and when the actual posture parameter and the target posture parameter match, actuates the first actuating element to adapt the contour of the back element to the posture of the person.

Chair and chair tilt control assembly

In an aspect, the invention is directed to a chair that has a pedestal and an upper assembly including a body support assembly and a tilt control assembly. A biasing member is provided to bias the body support assembly towards an unreclined position. When the chair is empty the biasing member has a certain preload. When a person sits in the chair or when a downward force is applied to the upper assembly, there is relative movement between two chair components which causes an increase in the preload in the biasing member as compared to the preload when the chair is empty. As the downward force on the upper assembly increases, the preload in the biasing member increases.

COLLAPSIBLE RECLINER MECHANISM

A recliner mechanism of a recliner to facilitate shipment and final assembly of the recliner mechanism includes a first side linkage, second side linkage, and at least one support member coupling the first and second side linkages. The first and second side linkages each may include a respective seat deck link configured to couple to a seat deck of the recliner and a respective back rest link configured to couple to a back rest of the recliner. The support member extends from a first end pivotally coupled to the first side linkage to a second end pivotally coupled to the second side linkage. The first side linkage is movable relative to the second side linkage from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration.
