Broadcast relaying via single-channel transmission

Systems and methods for relaying in broadcast single-frequency networks are disclosed herein. A single-frequency network can be formed in part using transmitters that receive data via a cooperative relay channel instead of a studio-to-transmitter link. In some embodiments, transmitter may use a portion of its transmission time to relay in-band information to the single-frequency network transmitter using time-division multiplexing.

Method for enabling a base station to decode data received from a first wireless device using a network coded form of the data received from a second wireless device

A method and a base station are provided. The base station obtains a first path gain of a cellular radio link to a first wireless device, a second path gain of a cellular radio link to a second wireless device and a third path gain of a Device-to-Device radio link between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. When the first, second and third path gains satisfy a threshold condition, the base station instructs the second wireless device to apply network coding on first data transmitted from the first wireless device and to transmit a network coded form of the first data. The base station receives a radio signal with the first data transmitted from the first wireless device and uses the network coded form of the first data transmitted by the second wireless device for decoding the first data.

Radio link control layer based relaying for integrated access and backhaul transmissions in wireless networks

Employment of a radio link control (RLC) protocol sublayer, wherein a data packet can be encapsulated by a relay distributed unit according to the protocol based on routing information provided by a routing function component, resulting in an encapsulated data unit. The encapsulated data unit can be transmitted on a relay bearer channel carried on an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) communications link.

Communication repeater system and method

According to one embodiment, a communication repeater system includes a master station device and radio frequency units which convert a signal from each of base station systems into an optical digital signal for transmission to the master station device. The base station systems establish communication by time division duplex scheme. The communication repeater system repeats communication between a mobile communication terminal device and each base station system via a corresponding one of slave station devices. A setter sets, as reference transmission/reception switching timing, a transmission/reception switching timing between the master station device and one of the radio frequency units corresponding to one of the base station systems which is first connected to the communication repeater system. A corrector corrects variation in the transmission/reception switching timing in accordance with the reference transmission/reception switching timing.

An operation method of a relay node may include: receiving, from a first communication node, first data composed of n bits; receiving, from a second communication node, second data composed of m bits; in response to determining that n is greater than m, generating first T-data of m bits excluding (n-m) bits from the n-bits of the first data and first R-data of (n-m) bits; generating third data by performing a network coding operation on the first T-data and the second data; transmitting the third data to the first communication node; and transmitting the third data and the first R-data to the second communication node.

A signal forwarding device receives a dual-encoded first set of data that is encoded according to first and second sets of encoding parameters. The signal forwarding device decodes the dual-encoded first set of data, using decoding parameters that correspond to the second set of encoding parameters, to generate a single-encoded first set of data that is encoded according to the first set of encoding parameters. The signal forwarding device transmits the single-encoded first set of data to the destination device, which decodes the single-encoded first set of data using decoding parameters that correspond to the first set of encoding parameters. If the decoding is unsuccessful, the destination device requests retransmission. The signal forwarding device decodes a stored copy of the single encoded first set of data, using decoding parameters that correspond to the first set of encoding parameters, and retransmits the first set of data to the destination device.

The relay performs a receiving phase of: receiving codewords transmitted by the sources, including estimating for each source a message associated with the codewords transmitted by the source, error detection and decision of error-free decoded messages, which determine the set of sources decoded without error by the relay; a phase of coding and transmitting to the recipient a signal uniquely representative of the selection of messages, such that, after each reception of a block from different sources, the relay receives and decodes a return path from the destination indicating if no or at least one message is decoded without error, these messages determining the set of sources decoded without error. The relay switches from the receiving phase to the coding and transmission phase once a logic rule is valid.
