An image content moderation method for hybrid radio broadcast is disclosed. The method includes the steps of receiving programs along with associated metadata, such as images, through the hybrid radio broadcast on a user device. Further, the method includes the steps of analyzing the images for a potential offensive content and assigning a score to each image indicating a level of potential offensiveness. Furthermore, the method includes the steps of generating information describing the images, such that the generated information along with the corresponding scores are rendered to a user of the user device for decision making pertaining to displaying of the images. Thereafter, the method includes the steps of determining whether to display the image based at least on the selection of the user of the user device.

Generally disclosed herein is a mechanism to provide music and radio station recommendations based on observing radio and music listening activities of a user over time. In some examples, information about the radio stations receivable by a user device and programs broadcast by such radio stations are collected over time. Recommendations for different music and/or radio stations may be generated based on a single song or radio program that the user listens to. The recommended music and/or radio stations may be updated based on program information related to the radio stations receivable by the user device at a specific time at a specific geographic location.

Generally disclosed herein is a mechanism to automatically recommend radio stations, audio content, or URLs for additional audio content based on analysis of the user's current and past listening activities and the program information of the radio stations received by the user device. The user's preference for particular topics or themes for particular additional audio content can be determined based on the user's historical or preference data. Such topics or themes can also be determined using machine learning models in real time or near real time while the user is listening to particular audio content. Based on the time and day when the user's listening activities occurred, time-specific recommendations for other audio content or radio stations can be output, such as through a display of the user's device.

A method for over-the-air broadcast linking to digital podcast content is disclosed. The method includes receiving broadcast signals and metadata from a radio broadcaster and/or IP data connection and extracting an identifier from the received metadata, wherein the identifier links to a catalog of digital podcast content produced by the radio broadcaster. Further, the method includes retrieving the catalog of the digital podcast content via an external data network using the extracted identifier. Thereafter, the method includes displaying, on a user device, a link to the retrieved catalog of the digital podcast content, such that when the displayed link is selected then a list of podcasts corresponding to the retrieved catalog of the digital podcast content is rendered on the user device.

A method for over-the-air broadcast linking to digital podcast content is disclosed. In response to receiving the station identifier, returning to the requesting device an address of a streaming station corresponding to the over-the-air broadcast station. A determination is made regarding whether the requesting device will insert advertisements locally. In response to determining that the requesting will insert advertisements locally, custom advertisements are transmitted to the requesting device for insertion into the streaming station corresponding to the over-the-air broadcast station.

A method includes receiving, from a requesting device, a broadcast station identifier associated with an over-the-air broadcast station. In response to receiving the station identifier, returning to the requesting device an address of a streaming station corresponding to the over-the-air broadcast station. Small changes in a broadcast version of a base media item can be identified by performing a multi-level comparison of digital fingerprints. A fingerprint of a base media item is compared to a fingerprint of a media broadcast to determine whether a media item embedded in a broadcast is likely, to a first level of certainty, to be the base media item. A second, more stringent, match between the fingerprint of the base media item and loosely matched items can be used to identify potentially-altered versions of the base media item. Potentially-altered versions can be compared against each other, and resulting matches are flagged as altered base media items, which can be fingerprinted and tested against broadcast fingerprints in the same manner as the base media item.
