A method of transmitting a Physical Layer Convergence Procedure (PLCP) frame in a Very High Throughput (VHT) Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) system includes generating a MAC Protocol Data Unit (MPDU) to be transmitted to a destination station (STA), generating a PLCP Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) by adding a PLCP header, including an L-SIG field containing control information for a legacy STA and a VHT-SIG field containing control information for a VHT STA, to the MPDU, and transmitting the PPDU to the destination STA. A constellation applied to some of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) symbols of the VHT-SIG field is obtained by rotating a constellation applied to an OFDM symbol of the L-SIGfield.

Repetition on subcarriers for noncoherent modulation
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device may encode a set of bits to transmit to a receiving device based on a repetition factor. The transmitting device may map, based on the repetition factor, the set of encoded bits to a subset of subcarriers such as adjacent subcarriers of a set of subcarriers. The transmitting device may generate a signal including the set of encoded bits based on the mapping, and transmit the generated signal to the receiving device. The receiving device may receive a modulated signal from the transmitting device, and identify, based on a repetition factor, a subset of subcarriers including adjacent subcarriers of a set of subcarriers associated with the modulated signal. The receiving device may average the subset of subcarriers including the adjacent subcarriers, and demodulate the modulated signal in accordance with the averaged subset of subcarriers including the adjacent subcarriers.
Systems and Methods for Phase Noise Tracking Reference Signal Sequence Generation Using Demodulation Reference Signals
A user equipment (910) is provided for use in a cellular network. The user equipment includes a transceiver (1010), a processor (1020), and a memory (1030). The user equipment (910) is configured to determine, for a data transmission, a mapping form a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) to a PNT-RS. A DMRS resulting signal is generated from a subset of DMRS for a first resource element in a subcarrier. The DMRS resulting signal is copied from the first resource element to a second resource element assigned to the PNT-RS in the subcarrier. The data transmission is transmitted using the DMRS resulting signal and the PNT-RS.
Rate adaptive turbo forward error correction
Techniques herein support enhanced multi-rate encoding and decoding of signals in multiple formats. In one embodiment, input data is received at a first device at one of a plurality of data rates. Encoder units are activated to produce streams of encoded input data. The encoder units are configured to operate at the same data rate. Differential encoding operations are performed to produce an encoded output stream. The encoded output stream is modulated for transmission to a second device. In another embodiment, a first device receives an encoded data stream that is transmitted from a second device. The modulated data stream includes encoded data at one of a plurality of data rates. Differential decoding is performed on the encoded data by activating one or more of a plurality of decoder units, where each of the plurality of decoder units is configured to operate at the same rate.

Radio modulation technique using DMPSK for immproved BER
A millimeter wave radio link in which the transceivers have most of its components fabricated on a single chip or chipset of a small number of semiconductor chips. The chip or chipsets when mass produced is expected to make the price of millimeter wave radios comparable to many of the lower-priced microwave radios available today from low-cost foreign suppliers. Preferred embodiments of the present invention operate in the range of about 3.5 Gbps to more than 10 Gbps. The transceivers of a preferred embodiment are designed to receive binary input data at an input data rate in 10.3125 Gbps and to transmit at a transmit data rate in of 10.3125 Gbps utilizing encoded three-bit data symbols on a millimeter carrier wave at E-Band frequencies. Preferred embodiments include an averaging technique that greatly improves bit error rates. A constellation averaging technique is utilized to improve bit error rates.
Receiving method and receiver for satellite-based automatic identification systems
A method for demodulating a received signal relating to a sequence of transmitted symbols that have been modulated by continuous phase modulation includes normalizing samples of a sequence of samples generated from the received signal, to obtain a normalized sequence of samples, wherein an amplitude of each sample of the normalized sequence of samples has an absolute value equal to unity; estimating, on the basis of the normalized sequence of samples, a time offset and a frequency offset of the received signal, and using the estimated time offset and the estimated frequency offset for compensating the normalized sequence of samples for the time and frequency offsets, to obtain a compensated sequence of samples; and determining a sequence of symbols corresponding to the transmitted sequence of symbols on the basis of the compensated sequence of samples. Also disclosed is a receiver for demodulating a received signal relating to a sequence of transmitted symbols that have been modulated by continuous phase modulation.
Coherent amplification using phase modulation mediated two-beam coupling
A coherent amplification device includes a phase modulation stage for preconditioning a laser beam, and a coupling stage for transferring energy and spatial phase information between the first laser beam and a second laser beam. The phase modulation stage may include an electro-optically active medium having a time-dependent refractive index manipulatable by an electric field thereby introducing a time-dependent phase shift to the first laser beam when passed therethrough. The coupling stage may include a coupling medium having a time-dependent and intensity-dependent refractive index with a finite lifetime, where an interference pattern of the laser beams is written into the coupling medium through the time-dependent and intensity-dependent refractive index to generate a holographic grating based on the interference pattern, and where the finite lifetime of the coupling medium and the preconditioned phase modulation facilitates a transfer of energy and spatial phase information between the laser beams.
DIGITAL DYNAMIC BIAS CIRCUIT
Circuits and methods for reducing the cost and/or power consumption of a user terminal and/or the gateway of a telecommunications system (550) that may include a telecommunications satellite. Embodiments generate a dynamic input bias signal based upon an information signal envelope (which may be pre-distorted) which is applied to the signal input of a power amplifier (PA), thus reducing average power consumption. Other embodiments further include dynamic linearization (518) of the information signal, and/or variation of the supply voltage to the power amplifier (PA) as a function of the envelope of the information signal. Another aspect is a multi-stage chained feedback regulated voltage supply circuit for providing two or more output voltages that may be used as alternative supply voltages to a power amplifier (PA).
