This application provides a latency-based transmission path control method, an apparatus, and a system. Device latencies of network node devices on an active transmission path, device latencies of network node devices on a standby transmission path, latencies of links between the network node devices on the active transmission path, and latencies of links between the network node devices on the active transmission path are obtained, and calculation is performed based on the respective device latencies and link latencies to obtain an active transmission path latency and a standby transmission path latency. Then, based on a latency-based switching mechanism, when the active transmission path latency is greater than a switching threshold and the standby transmission path latency is less than the switching threshold, an active-to-standby path switching command is generated.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MINIMIZING NETWORK LOAD IMBALANCE AND LATENCY

A system and method for improving a network topology to minimize load imbalance and latency between network nodes is provided. A network performance and configuration tool receives performance data from payload handling nodes, including radio stations, transport nodes and payload gateways to calculate a current network condition related to the current network topology. A revised network topology is determined by selecting a radio station to re-home from its parent transport node and payload gateway to a newly selected transport node and payload gateway. The revised network condition is calculated and compared to current network condition to determine if the re-homing should be accepted. The process can be repeated for a number of iterations until an optimized network topology is found. Configuration instructions are then transmitted to any radio stations that have been re-homed in the final network topology.

A processor joins sets of configurable parameters into groups that each identifies a configuration of the computing environment or of a component or subsystem of the computing environment. The processor generates a set of variations of each group, where each variation identifies a candidate configuration of the component, subsystem, or platform, and where each candidate configuration identifies a distinct set of values of the group of parameters associated with that component, subsystem, or platform. Each configuration of this first generation of configurations undergoes a massively parallel iterative procedure that generates a next generation of configurations by performing operations upon the first generation that are similar to those of a natural-selection process. The procedure repeats until successive generations converge, within resource constraints, to a fittest generation that represents an optimal or most nearly optimal configuration of the computing platform.

Systems, methods, and software for automatically optimizing QoS configuration in networking equipment. A network device measures current line metric values associated with a network connection of the device and compares the current line metric values to previously measured values to determine whether there has been a material change in a line metric value. If a material change in a line metric value has occurred, new QoS settings are computed for the network device based on the current line metric values measured, and the new QoS settings are applied to the QoS functions of the network device. The measuring, comparing, computing, and applying steps are repeated on a periodic basis in order to keep the QoS settings optimized to changing network conditions.

Transmitting Digital Data In Two-Wire Communication Networks

The present disclosure relates to communication networks. Some embodiments may include a communication network with two or more network nodes each comprising: a receiver discerning the signal quality of received signals; a transmitter sending signals at different data rates; and a controllable terminating impedance. A network node transmits the discerned signal quality to one or more additional network nodes, a network node records the signal qualities and corresponding values of the terminating impedances of the respective network nodes. A network node prescribes for additional network nodes a new respective value to set as a terminating impedance. A network node determines new terminating impedance values to optimize the data rate between the various network nodes and the signal quality at each of the network nodes.

Optimization of a home automation system using a local power line communication network

A method for optimizing a home automation system is provided having a plurality of communicating devices capable of exchanging information therebetween via a local low bandwidth PLC (Power Line Communication) network. The method includes a phase in which the PLC transmission power is adjusted for each new device added to the network. The phase includes the following successive steps: installing (10) the new device configured to transmit at a predefined maximum power on said PLC network; cutting off (20) all ongoing communications on the PLC network except for the new device; testing communication for each pre-existing device on the PLC network with which the new device is to be paired and, if communication fails, ensuring an automatic incremental increase (30) of the PLC transmission power of the pre-existing device until a first PLC transmission power value is reached at which PLC communication can be initialized between the pre-existing device and the new device; and ensuring an automatic reduction (40) of the PLC transmission power of the new device while communication between each pre-existing device and the new device is active.
