A protective case for a portable electronic device includes a shell, an aperture, an internal electrical connector, a rechargeable battery, docking receptacles, and an external electrical connector. The shell receives at least a portion of the portable electronic device while the aperture provides access to a user interface of the installed portable electronic device. The internal electrical connector electrically interfaces with the installed portable electronic device. The docking receptacles provide docking locations for removably stowing wireless earbuds when the earbuds are not in use. Each docking receptacle includes an electrical interface for electrically interfacing the rechargeable battery of the protective case to the wireless earbuds for recharging. The external electrical connector receives electrical power from an external power source for recharging the rechargeable battery of the protective case.

Methods and apparatuses for communications between a wearable device, a headset that can be attached to and detached from the wearable device, and a communications device. The wearable device detects when a user detaches the headset and establishes a Bluetooth connection between the headset and the wearable device or between the headset and another communications device.

A case for an electronic device includes a shell and at least three electrical connectors. The shell receives the electronic device and covers at least a portion of the electronic device. A first electrical connector is on an interior of the shell and electrically connects the case to an electrical interface of the electronic device when the electronic device is installed in the case. A second electrical connector is on an exterior of the shell and electrically connects a first external electrical device to the electronic device through the electrical interface of the electronic device. A third electrical connector is on the exterior of the shell and electrically connects a second external electrical device to the electronic device.

An apparatus includes a first transceiver of a wearable device. The first transceiver is configured to communicate using a first communication network having a first communication range. The apparatus further includes a second transceiver of the wearable device. The second transceiver is configured to communicate using a second communication network having a second communication range that is less than the first communication range. The receptacle is configured to receive an audio device that is configured to communicate with the second transceiver using the second communication network.

A storage system includes a protective housing member configured to mate with a handheld electronic device. The protective housing member includes a charging area formed between a surface of the protective housing member and a surface of an accessory item of the handheld electronic device. The charging area is configured to charge the accessory item of the handheld electronic device. The charging area is powered by at last one power component of the protective housing member or at least one power component of the handheld electronic device. The storage system further includes at least one integrated circuit which is either a component of the handheld electronic device or a component of the protective housing member.

An electronic device having a user interface for accessing phone features. The user interface accounts for whether the electronic device is connected to a companion cellular phone. The user interface accounts for a headset is available for use to carry on a call. The user interface permits transition between using one or more of cellular phone, headset, and/or the electronic device to be used for carrying on incoming or outgoing calls.

An attachment module for couples at least one wireless earphone with a mobile device. The module includes a generally planar main body having an interior side for facing a back surface of the mobile device and an exterior side facing opposite the interior side. The module has a first end for engaging a first edge of the mobile device. A multipurpose accessory and storage system for an electronic device includes a housing member attaching to the electronic device and a charging station structured on the housing member to charge, arrest and dispense an accessory item. The accessory item includes a protective membrane housing a logic board, a power component, an image sensor, a transmitter configured to transfer a signal or data to the electronic device or the housing member and a software program stored in the logic board. The transmitter establishes a pairing or electronic connection between the electronic device or the housing member and the accessory item. The pairing or electronic connection enables content captured by the image sensor to be relayed to the electronic device to permit a user to view the content on the display of the electronic device and/or to control components and features of the accessory item via the electronic device.

An electronic device with a display is paired with a set of wireless audio output devices, including a first wireless audio output device for outputting audio to a right ear of a user and a second wireless audio output device for outputting audio to a left ear of the user. In response to a request to display status information about the set of wireless audio output devices, the electronic device displays a status user interface, including concurrently displaying a first battery status indicator for the first wireless audio output device with an indication that battery status indicator relates to the device for outputting audio to the right ear of the user and a second battery status indicator for the second wireless audio output device with an indication that battery status indicator relates to the device for outputting audio to the left ear of the user.
