Method and apparatus for selective mobile application lockout
A system includes a processor configured to determine that an application is running in a foreground. The processor is also configured to receive a mobile device speed. The processor is additionally configured to determine if the mobile device speed is above a predetermined threshold. Also, the processor is configured to determine if an interface threshold has been exceeded and lock out the application from use if the mobile device speed is above the predetermined threshold and the interface threshold has been exceeded.
Automated tracking of vehicle operation and synchronized media delivery
The described methods and systems decrease instances of distracted driving, encourage more frequent use of vehicle tracking services, and generally improve the risk profile of a driver and vehicle. These benefits are achieved by way of a vehicle computer system that incentivizes users to place mobile devices in a do-not-disturb (DND) mode and to activate vehicle tracking services. The vehicle computer system encourages these behaviors by enabling content delivery for devices within the vehicle based on the status of the mobile device(s) and the status of the vehicle tracking service(s).
Mobile Device Communication Access and Hands-Free Device Activation
Apparatuses, systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for analyzing an incoming telephonic event (e.g., call, message, and/or notification) to a mobile device during operation of a vehicle in relation to a combination of factors to determine if the incoming telephonic event is to be allowed to be received during vehicle operation. The mobile device may receive the incoming telephonic event during operation of the vehicle. An incoming telephonic event analysis application operating on the mobile device may apply a soft block preventing the incoming telephonic event from being displayed on the mobile device. Based on the incoming telephonic event data, vehicle operational data, user preferences, hands-free device activation, and driver and road ratings, the incoming telephonic event analysis application may determine whether or not to maintain the soft block or allow the incoming telephonic event to be displayed on the mobile device during operation of the vehicle.
Text Prevention Device
A text-prevention device designed to restrict the cell-phone user from texting while driving a vehicle. This device, which is installed in the vehicle, into which the phone is inserted, is a clear, rectangular-shaped case with designated openings for the user to answer the phone and access specific numbers. The device has an electrical plug at the base which fits into the cell phone's port and serves to provide power to the phone. It also serves as an electrical component to help start the vehicle and maintain operability once the phone has been inserted into the device.
VEHICLE ELECTRONIC MOBILE DEVICE SYSTEMS
The vehicle electronic mobile device system includes an executable software program configured to lock down the tactile input of the electronic mobile device when the electronic mobile device is paired and the vehicle is in a vehicle operating condition. The vehicle electronic mobile device system includes a hands-free system. The executable software program is further configured to allow other functions of the electronic mobile device remain operative and incoming texts and phone calls are pushed through the hands-free system. Responses to the incoming texts and phone calls are transmitted from the driver to the electronic mobile device through the hands-free system. Accordingly, the vehicle electronic mobile device system discourages users from handling the electronic mobile device but allows the driver to maintain communications through the electronic mobile device by utilizing the hands-free system.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER METADATA TO SUPPORT SECOND SCREEN
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, a method, and a system for receiving display capabilities of a secondary vehicular display, determining metadata to display based on the display capabilities of the secondary vehicular display, formatting the displayable metadata, and transmitting the displayable metadata to the secondary vehicular display. The metadata is determined by receiving a data set from producer, comparing the data set against the display capabilities, and formatting the resultant data from the comparing as metadata.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND VEHICLES FOR DISABLING A FUNCTION OF ONE OR MORE MOBILE DEVICES WITHIN A PASSENGER CABIN OF A VEHICLE
Embodiments of the present disclosure include methods, systems, and vehicles for disabling a function of one or more mobile devices within a passenger cabin of a vehicle. A method of disabling a function of one or more mobile devices within a passenger cabin of a vehicle according to the present disclosure includes determining a number of occupants within the passenger cabin based on one or more occupant sensor output signals output by one or more occupant sensors. A disable message is sent to disable a function of the one or more mobile devices in the passenger cabin when the number of occupants present in the passenger cabin is determined to be one. A disable message is sent to disable a function of only the one or more mobile devices associated with a driver of the vehicle when the number of occupants present in the passenger cabin is determined to be greater than one.
MANUFACTURING THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITES AND ARTICLES
Embodiments of the present technology may include a method of making a thermoplastic composite strand. The method may include melting a reactive thermoplastic resin to form a molten reactive resin. The method may also include fully impregnating a plurality of continuous fibers with the molten reactive resin in an impregnation device. The method may further include polymerizing the molten reactive resin to form a thermoplastic resin matrix. In addition, the method may include cooling the thermoplastic resin matrix to form a thermoplastic composite strand.
VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM
A vehicle control system for controlling a vehicle based on information from a mobile communication terminal includes an operation restricting portion that restricts operation to the mobile communication terminal, a determination portion that determines a restriction state of the operation to the mobile communication terminal imposed by the operation restricting portion, and a vehicle control portion that controls the vehicle in accordance with the determination of the determination portion.
PREVENTING DRIVER DISTRACTION FROM INCOMING NOTIFICATIONS
Driving condition data is determined. The driving condition data identifies one or more driving actions that require more driver attention and one or more driving actions that require less driver attention. An indication is received that a user has a mobile device and is driving a vehicle. The surrounding environment of the vehicle is monitored. An incoming notification on the mobile device is received. A distraction value is determined. The distraction value is based on the one or more driving actions and the surrounding environment. The incoming notification is modified based on the distraction value.
