Loopback testing in frequency division duplex systems

A communication device and method therein for loopback testing. The device comprises a transmitter and a receiver and applies FDD for communication over one or more lines. The method comprises degrading a linearity of the transmitter, as compared to the linearity during normal operation. The method further comprises transmitting at least one test signal in a transmit frequency band, such that at least one signal is created in a receive frequency band, wherein the created at least one signal is a distortion product of the at least one test signal; and further, receiving a response to the at least one created signal in the receive frequency band.

Line fault localisation

The invention relates to a method of managing a digital subscriber line, in particular for identifying the location of weather related faults. The invention continuously measures the signal to noise (SNR) margin on the DSL line as well as measurements from weather related sensors, such as moisture and wind sensors, which each have an associated geographical location. The SNR margin measures are compared to predetermined conditions based on SNR margin characteristics associated with a population of good lines. If the SNR margin measures fail to meet the predetermined conditions, the SNR measures are also compared to the weather sensor measurements over a day or number of days. If there is a correlation between the SNR margin measures and at least one of the sensors, then location of the fault is identified as the location of the sensor having the strongest correlation with the SNR measures.

Management center for communication system customer premises equipment

Described are systems and methods for a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) customer premises equipment (CPE) Management Center (CMC). In one embodiment, the CMC includes a communications interface to receive information from the CPE device regarding operation of the CPE device. The received information is analyzed and a command signal generation module generates a corresponding command signal for transmission to the at least one CPE device to modify the CPE device operation based on the analysis results in a manner which either enhances CPE device performance, for example increasing data rate, or improves line stability, for example reducing CPE error rate.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR GENERALIZED CONTROL OF DEVICES

Tools and techniques are described to attach a device to a controller, whereby the controller analyzes the device inputs, looks up information about the device in a database, and then determines which inputs on the device match the defined device inputs. It then may translate information received from the device into an intermediate language. It may also use the information received from the device, the location of the device, and information about the device to create a digital twin of the device.

Building automation programming using UI representations of physical models

A controller is described that a building design can be input into, the building design comprising inputting a layout, predefined resources and positions for resources. within the layout. The resources may have a predefined physics nature that includes physics equations, allowable inputs and outputs, etc. The system then can determine how many controllers are needed of what type, and create a guided wiring system. In some implementations a user can control certain aspects of the wiring system, such as how full the individual controllers are and how much money is to be spent on labor versus money spent on equipment.

DETECTING MODEM POWER STATE CHANGE
20240267456 · 2024-08-08 ·

A method of determining when there has been a change in the modem power state of a modem connected to a digital subscriber line. An Uncalibrated Echo Response (UER) trace is obtained from the digital subscriber line by running a Single Ended Line Test (SELT) on the line. This UER trace is compared to a historical (baseline) UER trace from the same line. A difference in the two traces in a higher frequency range (for example, DS3 for a VDSL line), is indicative of a possible modem power state change.

Systems and methods are provided for limiting the number of persistent voice connections for a user and for configuring dynamic connections to appear from the user's perspective as if they were persistent connections. When the user initiates a call over a dynamic connection the user's voice is stored until the connection is established at which time the user's voice will continue to be stored and will also be transmitted over the connection until the voice being stored and the voice being transmitted become the same.
