Communication routing based on presence in a confined wireless environment

An incoming communication (e.g., a voice call, a data call) can be routed to a wireless devices or a wireline device, based in part on a routing preference and a presence condition of a mobile device in a confined wireless environment served by a confined-coverage access point (AP). The routing preference can be subscriber-specific and configurable by the subscriber linked to the mobile device, whereas the presence condition reveals whether the mobile device is attached to the confined-coverage AP and is automatically detected. A routing server acquires the routing preference and the presence condition for the mobile device. Based on routing logic applied to the routing preference and the presence information, the routing server directs the incoming communication to a set of wireline devices, a set of wireless devices, or a combination thereof.

Surrogate cellularless roaming

Cellularless roaming avoids excess charges in private cellular network. A user swaps a subscriber identity module from a mobile device and into a surrogate cellular device. The surrogate cellular device may then use the subscriber identity module to establish wireless communication in a home location of a private cellular network. The surrogate cellular device, though, may still communicate with the mobile device using the public Internet. Whenever the surrogate cellular device receives a cellular call or data, the cellular call or data may be routed via the public Internet to the mobile device. The user may thus carry the mobile device to any country in the world and avoid roaming charges.

A system is provided which is capable of connecting a call without degrading the security level in a mobile terminal network, even when a call addressed to a user equipment (UE) arrives via the Internet or a home network. A femto base station receives a packet addressed to a UE via the Internet or a home network, and starts a paging procedure. The UE establishes an RRC connection to the femto base station. The UE transmits, to the femto base station, a paging response addressed to the SGSN. The femto base station performs NAS verification. If the femto base station detects the paging response to a paging request that the femto base station itself has issued, the femto base station changes the service type of the service request received from the UE from the paging response to signaling.

Contextual information

Methods, systems, and products provide contextual information for communications. A call, for example, is processed from an origination address to a destination address. A query is made for a brand of device associated with the origination address making the call. The brand of device is announced during the call.

TELEPHONY TERMINAL

Methods and apparatus implementing a telephony terminal for connecting a telephone to a data network. In one implementation, a telephony system includes: a phone connection for connecting to a telephone; a network connection for connecting to a network; and a controller connected to said phone connection and to said network connection; wherein said controller provides a phone service for processing information for said phone connection, said controller provides a network service for processing information for said network connection, and said controller provides a network voice service for converting information to and from a network voice format.

Dynamic PCRF/PCF selection

A solution for initiating a network session (e.g., a voice call) for a user equipment (UE) on a network includes: receiving a session initiation message at a first network node; appending, to the session initiation message, an identification of a policy node; passing the appended session initiation message to a session management node; selecting, by the session management node, the identified policy node; and based at least upon selecting the identified policy node, initiating the network session for the UE. This improves call setup reliability by reducing the risk that an error in the subscriber information at the session management node (e.g., proxy-call session control function (P-CSCF)) indicates the incorrect policy node (e.g., policy and charging rule function (PCRF) or policy charging function (PCF)). In some examples, the session initiation message may comprise a session initiation protocol (SIP) message.

Client application enabling multiple line call termination and origination

In some implementations, a computing device may determine a location of the computing device. The computing device may have an associated first phone number. The computing device may determine that the location of the computing device is outside a geographic area in which a carrier associated with the first phone number provides service. The computing device may send a registration request to a local network indicating that the computing device is operating in an over the top mode. The computing device may originate an outgoing call from the computing device. The outgoing call appears to a called party to originate from a second phone number that is different from the first phone number.
