An information processing apparatus includes an instructing unit, a response obtaining unit, and an execution unit. The instructing unit provides an instruction to display an approval request screen to a terminal apparatus operated by a second user. The approval request screen is used for making a request to approve execution of setting changing processing for changing a setting of the information processing apparatus operated by a first user. The first and second users are authenticated by an authenticating unit. The response obtaining unit obtains a response made on the approval request screen from the second user. The execution unit executes the setting changing processing in accordance with the response obtained by the response obtaining unit.

An information processing apparatus includes a network interface and circuitry. The network interface communicates with a service provision system that authenticates a user and generates content screen information. The circuitry displays, on a display, a content screen based on the content screen information acquired from the service provision system and transmits authentication information to the service provision system in response to a first login operation performed by the user. The first login operation is a login operation performed by the user for the first time. The circuitry stores, in a memory, user information, which is acquired from the service provision system in response to authentication of the user in the first login operation, and switches, when the user is to perform a second login operation, the content screen according to the user information. The second login operation includes one or more login operations performed by the user after the first login operation.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ACTIVATING AND EXECUTING HIDDEN FUNCTION ON A DEVICE
A printing device is implemented to activate a hidden function by inputting tap sequences on a tap screen. The hidden function includes displaying an icon of a title of a secret document on a display screen without showing the content of the secret document. A method for activating the hidden function using tap sequences is also disclosed. The method compares the input tap sequences with a plurality sets of predetermined codes, each of which corresponds to a hidden function. When the input tap sequences match one set of predetermined codes, the method activates and executes the hidden function. By executing the hidden function, the secret document is printed. The tap sequences are tapping actions that do not generate tangible symbols that are reviewable on the tap screen. By doing so, the confidential document is further protected.

A system and method of managing assets for customizing user interfaces of multifunction peripherals includes an asset management system that includes a memory for storing assets such as background images, logos, taglines, applications, and configuration templates. An associated processor determines the permission level of the user or administrator and provides access to assets based on the permission level of the respective user or administrator. The permission level of the user or administrator is based on the associated level within the tiered permission topology of asset management system. Users can use assets of administrators and other users to generate customized user interfaces for multifunction peripherals using assets of anyone in a child, peer, or parent relationship, but are restricted from performing administrative operations, such as editing and deleting of assets, on assets of other users and administrators. Administrators are restricted from performing administrative operations on assets of higher tiers.

System and method for machine learning assisted multifunction peripheral fleet management via a handheld device
A system and method for maintaining and optimizing a fleet of multifunction peripherals is operated by use of a smartphone or tablet computer. Fleet changes are provided in multiple categories such as software updates, configuration changes and feature activation. A user is provided with a dashboard having a selectable indicia for each category. Devices are monitored and machine learning provides for recommendations for each category. A badge showing a number of recommendations for each category is displayed with its selectable indicia. When an indicia is selected, an associated recommendation is displayed and implemented if accepted. Once accepted, the dashboard is regenerated with updated badge information reflecting an accepted implementation.
Language selection for user interface
A method provides for language selection on a shared local user interface, such as an interface for operating a printer that is used by multiple users having a variety of first languages. The method includes providing at least one mechanism on a shared local user interface for selection of one of an original set of languages for text to be displayed on the local user interface. One mechanism may include displaying text in each of the languages contemporaneously or sequentially. At a plurality of times, a respective user's selection of one of the original set of languages is received. Based on a plurality of user selections, a modified set of languages can be learned which is then used in place of the original set of languages when providing the at least one language selection mechanism at a subsequent time.
