A method provides for language selection on a shared local user interface, such as an interface for operating a printer that is used by multiple users having a variety of first languages. The method includes providing at least one mechanism on a shared local user interface for selection of one of an original set of languages for text to be displayed on the local user interface. One mechanism may include displaying text in each of the languages contemporaneously or sequentially. At a plurality of times, a respective user's selection of one of the original set of languages is received. Based on a plurality of user selections, a modified set of languages can be learned which is then used in place of the original set of languages when providing the at least one language selection mechanism at a subsequent time.

A display control apparatus includes a controller configured to control a display to display a standby screen including one or more display target tabs among a plurality of tabs displayable on the standby screen, the plurality of tabs including one or more shared tabs associated with a shared attribute and one or more personal tabs associated with a personal attribute, switch a user mode of the apparatus between a public mode and a personal mode, when the user mode is set to the public mode, display the one or more display target tabs including the one or more shared tabs, and when accepting user authentication information of a particular registered user, set the user mode to the personal mode for the particular registered user, and display the one or more display target tabs including the one or more shared tabs and a personal tab associated with the particular registered user.

An information processing system includes a plurality of programs, each executing a predetermined process. The information processing system includes a memory and circuitry. The memory stores, for each of applications, each executing a series of processes using electronic data, an application associating flow information with application setting information. The flow information defines program identification information and an execution order. The application setting information defines parameter setting information, group setting information, and flow identification information. The memory further stores use screen information in association with application identification information. The circuitry: receives a first request including the application identification information from a device; transmits the use screen information and the application setting information to the device; receives a second request including the parameters, information on electronic data, and the flow identification information; acquires the flow information; and executes the programs in accordance with the execution order by using the parameters.

A communication system includes a server and a terminal device. In a memory of the server, first identification information is correlated to a plurality of sets of user information and a plurality of sets of restriction information. The first identification information identifies an image processing apparatus. Each of the plurality of sets of restriction information includes information for restricting settings of an image process available to a user specified by a corresponding set of user information. After receiving the target user information and identification information identifying the image processing apparatus, a server side controller acquires and transmits to the terminal device target restriction information. A terminal side controller receives the target restriction information from the server as a response to transmission of the target user information and the identification information; and outputting the target restriction information.

A multifunction peripheral (MFP) acquires a display setting of an operation unit in the MFP, which is associated with a user at a client terminal, when accessed from the client terminal. Provided is an electronic device that greatly simplifies a setting operation when using an operation history. The electronic device of this disclosure includes a panel part, a system control part, a setting operation management part, and a function part. The system control part conducts a download of one of an individual operation history and an entire operation history for each selection item, as setting history of selection information, from a management server according to a procedure of a setting assistance application program which has been downloaded from the management server and which is assigned to each user. The setting operation management part manages the setting information included in the downloaded setting history for each the selection item. The function part executes a processing based on the setting information managed by the setting operation management part.
