The upper unit further includes a reading unit to read an image from the first document and the second document by performing flatbed scanning on the first document and document feed scanning on the second document.

Image reading apparatus and image forming apparatus comprising a first wall, a second wall, a harness interposed between the first wall and second wall, a third wall, the harness not interposed between the first wall and third wall, and a plurality of fourth walls spaced apart from each other extending in an orthogonal direction orthogonal to the first direction in which the first wall and the third wall extend and protruding upward from the bottom of the harness accommodating portion

An image reading apparatus is provided, including a platen glass having opposed upper and lower surfaces, a support frame supporting a peripheral portion of the platen glass, a reading device reciprocable in a first direction and disposed on an inner side of the support frame so as to be nearer to the lower surface than to the upper surface, a guide formed on an inner bottom surface on the inner side of the support frame and extending in the first direction so as to guide reciprocation of the reading device, a controller that controls operations of the reading device, a harness connecting the reading device and the controller to each other, and a harness accommodating portion accommodating the harness and constituted by a groove having a recessed shape, extending in the first direction, and formed at the inner bottom surface at a position located in front of the guide.

Image reading apparatus with a document feeder with a pressing layer

An image reading apparatus includes a platen on which a document is to be placed, an image sensor configured to read an image of the document on the platen, an opening/closing member configured to cover and uncover the platen, a document pressing layer disposed on a surface of the opening/closing member and configured to press the document on the plate when the opening/closing member covers the platen, elastic layers located between the document pressing layer and the opening/closing member and spaced apart from each other on a surface of the document pressing layer, and connection layers connecting the elastic layers to the opening/closing member. An area of the elastic layer is larger than an area of the connection layer.

Image reading apparatus and method for controlling image reading apparatus

An image reading apparatus includes a reading controller, a data generating circuit unit, a document holder, an opening/closing sensor which provides an output of a first level when the document holder is open by an angle equal to or more than a predetermined angle, and a storage unit which stores an adjustment value. Where a return is made from a power saving mode to an active mode, when an output level of the opening/closing sensor is the first level, the reading controller makes a setting for an operation of the data generating circuit unit based on the adjustment value stored in the storage unit, and then makes the reading unit perform reading for document size detection.

The image reading apparatus (50) includes: a second casing (60) placed on the first casing (10); a second carriage (52) being movable inside the second casing (60); a lock member (70) which is engaged with the second carriage (52) to restrict movement of the second carriage (52), and when pushed up by the first projecting part (21), is disengaged from the second carriage (52) to release restriction of the movement of the second carriage (52); and a third opening (64) into which the second projecting part (22).

Printing apparatus

An object of the present invention is to provide a printing apparatus including a scanner unit openable and closable with respect to a printer body unit for simultaneously achieving smooth opening/closing movement and the downsizing of the apparatus. The printing apparatus includes a first gear member provided in the printer body unit and a second gear member which is attached to the scanner unit so as to be swingable with respect to the scanner unit and which is in mesh with the first gear member. When the scanner unit opens or closes with respect to the printer body unit, the second gear member swings with respect to the scanner unit while retaining a meshing state with the first gear member.
