An image terminal apparatus includes: an imaging unit configured to image an object continuously and generate image data sequentially; a buffer memory configured to store temporarily and sequentially the image data; an I/F circuit configured to sequentially write the image data stored in the buffer memory on a recording medium attached externally; a communicating circuit configured to sequentially transmit the image data stored in the buffer memory through communication with a peripheral device according to a predetermined communication standard; a detecting circuit configured to detect a remaining amount of data storable in the buffer memory; a first determining circuit configured to determine whether the remaining amount is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold; and a data control circuit configured to control a mode of the image data sequentially stored in the buffer memory based on a determination result by the first determining circuit.

Enhanced image capture

Disclosed are techniques that provide a best picture taken within a few seconds of the moment when a capture command is received (e.g., when the shutter button is pressed). In some situations, several still images are automatically (that is, without the user's input) captured. These images are compared to find a best image that is presented to the photographer for consideration. Video is also captured automatically and analyzed to see if there is an action scene or other motion content around the time of the capture command. If the analysis reveals anything interesting, then the video clip is presented to the photographer. The video clip may be cropped to match the still-capture scene and to remove transitory parts. Higher-precision horizon detection may be provided based on motion analysis and on pixel-data analysis.

IMAGE CAPTURING DEVICE AND METHOD THEREOF

An image capturing device is provided comprising an image sensor for capturing a first image of a scene, a light source for illuminating the scene with a first flash of coded light, and a network interface for communicating with a communications network and/or a further image capturing device. The device is operative to encode information into the first flash, enabling retrieval of the first image from a first data storage, capture the first image, and store the first image in the first data storage. Optionally, the device may be operative to detect a second flash of coded light emitted by the further image capturing device, decode information enabling retrieval of a second image captured by the further image capturing device from a second data storage, retrieve the second image, and create a 3D model from the first image and the second image.

An imaging apparatus to be remotely controlled by an external electronic device includes: a communication unit that communicates with the electronic device; an imaging unit that captures a moving image of a subject to generate moving image data from which still image data is to be extracted; a storage unit that stores, in a recording medium, the moving image data generated by the imaging unit; and a control unit that controls an operation of the imaging apparatus. The control unit performs a process of generating the moving image data in response to a first request from the electronic device and generating the still image data by extracting at least one frame image from the moving image data stored in the recording medium, in response to a second request from the electronic device, and causes the communication unit to transmit the generated still image data to the electronic device.
