An information processing apparatus includes an interface and circuitry. The interface communicates with an auxiliary device via a first communication channel and a second communication channel. The first communication channel and the second communication channel are each separately exchange communications between the information processing apparatus and the auxiliary device. The circuitry obtains failure information indicating a communication failure occurring in the first communication channel, sends a shutdown instruction via the second communication channel in response to a determination to reboot the information processing apparatus, the shutdown instruction instructing the auxiliary device to shut down, and reboots the information processing apparatus.

A media conveying apparatus includes circuitry configured to set setting information regarding an input image generation process, a conveyor to convey a plurality of media sequentially, and an imager to image each of the plurality of media sequentially conveyed by the conveyor according to the setting information to obtain an input image. The circuitry determines, based on the input image, whether the setting information is compatible with the medium imaged in the input image; and calculates a degree of the number of media for which the setting information is determined to be incompatible among the plurality of media. When the degree is greater than a threshold, the circuitry stops conveying subsequent media and outputs information on a result of determining whether the setting information is compatible with the medium imaged in the input image.

An image forming apparatus includes a displayer capable of displaying an operation guide for the image forming apparatus; a first communicator that performs communication for acquiring the operation guide from an external device via a network; a second communicator that performs short-range wireless communication with a terminal of a user operating the image forming apparatus; and a controller that performs control of notifying, from the second communicator, the terminal of access information of accessing the external device for acquiring the operation guide, in a case where a failure has occurred in communication by the first communicator.

An image forming apparatus is provided with a communication portion that is connected to an external device via a network and communicates with the external device and a control portion that controls communication by the communication portion and executes a restart process for restarting the image forming apparatus. When a preset restart target error has occurred, the control portion executes the restart process in a state where a network port used for communication with the external device is disabled.

A multifunction peripheral (100) is connected to a terminal device (200) via a communication link, receives image data transmitted from the terminal device (200) and forms an image based on the image data. Further, the multifunction peripheral (100) detects the state of connection of the communication link and thereby detects whether or not communication with the terminal device (200) is interrupted. If interruption of communication is detected while image data transmitted from the terminal device is being received, the multifunction peripheral suspends the unfinished state of reception of image data.

If an operation of canceling a predetermined state includes an operation of powering off the device, even if communication between the device and the information processing apparatus becomes inexecutable after the screen for cancelling the predetermined state is displayed, the information processing apparatus does not execute a notification corresponding to a state in which the communication is inexecutable. If the operation of canceling the predetermined state does not include the operation of powering off the device, the information processing apparatus executes, based on a fact that the communication between the device and the information processing apparatus becomes inexecutable after the screen for cancelling the predetermined state is displayed, the notification corresponding to the state in which the communication is inexecutable.

Embodiments of a fax system with adaptive protocol selection, and methods for such a system, are disclosed herein. Embodiments of a fax system may be adapted to selectively configure the protocol (both the type of protocol or aspects of a particular protocol) used in association with the transmission or reception of a specific fax. The configuration of the protocol utilized can be based on one or more attributes associated with a sender or a destination. The fax can then be transmitted or received according to those configuration parameters.

A system and method for capturing and rendering of images includes a wearable or portable data device including a digital camera. A data storage includes data specifying a default image printer and default print settings for digital images. An image capture operation triggers a prompt for expedited image rendering in accordance with preset default settings. Input responsive to the prompt selects for immediate commencement of a print operation for a captured image in accordance with default settings. Image capture and communication can be accomplished with wearable digital eyewear working in concert with an associated, portable data device such as a smartphone. Captured images may be queued in a user device when a data path to the printer is unavailable.

Disclosed is an image forming apparatus including: a reading unit; a print unit; a transmitting unit; an execution instruction receiving unit; and a control unit, wherein in case that before a predetermined time elapses since the execution instruction receiving unit receives a first execution instruction for executing a first job including reading of the original set to the reading unit, the execution instruction receiving unit receives a second execution instruction for executing a second job including the reading of the original, and in case that the first execution instruction and/or the second execution instruction is a remote instruction, the control unit controls the transmitting unit so as not to transmit the image of the original even though a transmitting instruction for transmitting the image of the original is included in the first execution instruction and/or the second execution instruction.

An image management apparatus for managing an image includes a transmission unit configured to transmit an image analysis request to an image analysis apparatus for analyzing the image, a reception unit configured to receive an analysis result, including a result code, from the image analysis apparatus, a processing result determination unit configured to determine a processing result based on the result code, and a subsequent process determination unit configured to determine a subsequent process related to analysis of the image based on the processing result.
