Multilayer white printing with white-balance
White-balance is improved when printing on colored media, while minimizing the time and use of costly materials required by present approaches. In an embodiment, the typical solid white fill or background layer is altered by including in the white layer one or more of the other colors already available in the printer to shade this layer. Thus, a small amount of cyan, for example, helps balance a pink-ish (red) media; yellow is used for blue media; and magenta is used for green media; as well as combinations thereof. A combination of transparent process inks and opaque white helps to maintain brightness (luminosity).

Original document detection apparatus and original document detection method
A background image is acquired by imaging an opening plate as a background of an original document in a state where the original document is not arranged. Next, an original document including background image is acquired by imaging the same range as the background image in a state where the original document is arranged on an upper surface of the opening plate. Next, a difference image is generated by subtracting the background image from the original document including background image. In addition, an inverse difference image is generated by subtracting the original document including background image from the background image. A region of the original document is detected based on the difference image and the inverse difference image.

A method for compensating for position-dependent density fluctuations of print nozzles in any inkjet printer by a computer. The computer produces, for all substrates used, compensation profiles for the position-dependent density fluctuations over all print heads of the inkjet printer and applies the compensation profiles to compensate for the position-dependent density fluctuations in the inkjet printer. The computer determines in each case printer-specific or print head-specific influences and print substrate-specific influence factors with a generic reference print substrate, from which a reference compensation profile is produced which depends on the surface coverage and location. From this the computer produces a total compensation profile which is used to compensate for position-dependent density fluctuations.
GRAY SCALE ADJUSTMENT METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DISPLAY PANEL
The present invention discloses a gray scale adjustment method and device for a display panel. The method includes: performing an image acquisition on the display panel to obtain a current image; identifying a relationship between a sum of gray scale values of all pixels in the current image and a target value by a distinguishing method, in order to identify an uneven block in the current image; detecting an original output luminance and an original input gray scale of the uneven block; determining a target input gray scale corresponding to a preset target luminance according to an actual gamma curve value obtained by testing the display panel; and taking a difference between the original input gray scale and the target input gray scale as a gray scale compensation value of the uneven block.

The present invention provides an image processing apparatus for evaluating a surface of an object using a marker including marks whose positional relationship in a case where the marker is arranged in plane is known, the maker being arranged on the surface of the object. The image processing apparatus includes: a first acquisition unit configured to obtain image data obtained by capturing an image of the surface and an image of the marker arranged on the surface; a second acquisition unit configured to obtain information indicating positional relationship among the marks included in the marker; an extraction unit configured to extract the positional relationship among the marks included in the marker in an image indicated by the image data; and a correction unit configured to correct the image data based on the positional relationship indicated by the information and the extracted positional relationship.
Correcting tone scale errors in a digital printer
A method for correcting tone-level non-uniformities in a digital printing system includes printing a test target having a set of uniform test patches. The printed test target is automatically analyzed to determine tone-level errors as a function of cross-track position for each of the test patches. A tone-level correction function is determined and represented using a set of one-dimensional feature vectors which specifies tone-level corrections as a function of cross-track position and pixel value. Corrected image data is determined by using the tone-level correction function to determine a tone-level correction value for each image pixel responsive to the input pixel value and cross-track position of the image pixel. The corrected image data is printed using the digital printing system to provide a printed image with reduced tone-level errors.
