An image processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit configured to acquire an image, an image processing unit configured to perform image processing on the acquired image, and an output unit configured to output the image having undergone the image processing to an output destination. The image processing unit is able to perform replacement processing for replacing colors of predetermined image portions in the acquired image with a color selected from a plurality of predetermined different colors based on the colors of the predetermined image portions. The output unit is able to output the acquired image having undergone the replacement processing to the output destination, and to output the image not having undergone the replacement processing to the output destination.

Certain examples described herein relate to a color processing apparatus and a method of generating configuration data for a color rendering device. The color rendering device operates based on color state instructions indicating output color states for portions of a rendered output. Render data may be generated by applying a halftone matrix and color data may indicate probability values for the output color states for input image areas corresponding to the portions of the rendered output. In described examples, configuration data defines an order of output color states for application of the halftone matrix. In the order, the output color states are grouped within the data based on color properties of a rendered output and an order within the clusters is based on colorant composition.

A method and apparatus for image processing. An image scaling circuit is configured to receive image data for a plurality of pixels corresponding to a first image. The image data includes color information and a transparency value for each of the plurality of pixels. The image scaling circuit updates the image data by selectively changing the color information for one or more of the pixels based at least in part on the transparency values. In updating the image data, the image scaling circuit may determine contextual information about the first image based at least in part on the transparency values. The image scaling circuit further generates an interpolated image based on the updated image data for the plurality of pixels. For example, the interpolated image may be a scaled version of the first image.
