An improvement in quality is achieved by improving a contrast ratio. Therefore, in a projector device including a light source device using a solid-state light source (AR) includes a temperature adjustment device (190) capable of setting a state in which a temperature of at least the solid-state light source is caused to increase. Then, a determination unit (12) determines a luminance state of an image and a control unit (16) controls a heat state of the solid-state light source (AR) by controlling the temperature adjustment device (190) on the basis of a determination result. In particular, by increasing the temperature of the solid-state light source (AR) in accordance with an image, light emission efficiency is lowered to decrease luminance.

A projecting system includes an image projector that includes an optical source and that projects an image on a projected surface; and a processor. The processor obtains brightness information regarding brightness around the projected surface. The processor selects at least one item among a total luminous flux of the optical source, a color gamut of the image, and a size of the image. The processor adjusts the item that is selected based on the brightness information.

A hybrid projector architecture combines steered light with unsteered light. In some embodiments the steered light is narrowband light and the unsteered light is broadband light. Splitting between the steered and unsteered light may be determined based on luminance level. For example, the unsteered light may contribute a large proportion of the light for luminance levels up to a threshold. The steered light may contribute an increasing proportion of the light as luminance values rise above the threshold.
