Content caching services in satellite and satellite/IP content delivery systems
Systems and methods are presented to facilitate caching of programming from broadcast and/or content streaming services to a user device for local playback. In addition, metadata can be provided to guide the user in selecting, caching, or playing the cachable content. In some exemplary embodiments, a receiver or other user device can automatically select the programming to be cached based on a user's historical topic interest and listening history. In some exemplary embodiments, the metadata can also include DRM information that can limit the ability of a user to playback the content, so as to comply, if necessary, with operative legal requirements related to usage of the content.

This disclosure describes an apparatus and system for classifying audio and video data captured by a portable recording device. The portable recording device may comprise a camera system enclosure that captures audio and video data that reflects a user’s point-of-view perception of their surroundings. The video and/or audio data may be transmitted in real-time, or near real-time, to a Central Multimedia Management (CMM) System at a Network Operations Center, or one or more mobile computing devices, via one or more networks. Alternatively, or additionally, the video and/or audio data may be stored within memory of the portable recording device. This disclosure further describes a CMM system that may act as a central repository of multimedia data from one or more portable recording device(s). The CMM system may further generate and assign incident report forms for each individual instance of real-time data that is recorded by a portable recording device.

Disclosed is an electronic gimbal with camera and mounting configuration. The gimbal can include an inertial measurement unit which can sense the orientation of the camera and three electronic motors which can manipulate the orientation of the camera. The gimbal can be removably coupled to a variety of mount platforms, such as an aerial vehicle, a handheld grip, or a rotating platform. Moreover, a camera can be removably coupled to the gimbal and can be held in a removable camera frame. Also disclosed is a system for allowing the platform, to which the gimbal is mounted, to control settings of the camera or to trigger actions on the camera, such as taking a picture, or initiating the recording of a video. The gimbal can also provide a connection between the camera and the mount platform, such that the mount platform receives images and video content from the camera.
