TELEVISION-RELATED SETUP FOR A SMART HOME APPLICATION
According to an aspect, a method includes receiving, by a server computer, television setup criteria for a smart home application associated with an account of a user of the smart home application. The method may include receiving, by the server computer and from a network-enabled display device, a request to log into the account of the user, in response to logging into the account of the user, receiving a selection of the television setup criteria from the network-enabled display device; and in response to receiving the selection of the television setup criteria, facilitating an installation and use of at least one streaming service application on the network-enabled display device as specified by the television setup criteria, the television setup criteria being for a temporary mode of operation for the network-enabled display device.
Geolocationing system and method for use of same
A geolocationing system and method for providing awareness in a multi-space environment, such as a hospitality environment or educational environment, are presented. In one embodiment of the geolocationing system, a vertical and horizontal array of gateway devices is provided. Each gateway device includes a gateway device identification providing an accurately-known fixed location within the multi-space environment. Each gateway device includes a wireless transceiver that receives a beacon signal from a proximate wireless-enabled personal locator device. The gateway devices, in turn, send gateway signals to a server, which determines an estimated location of the wireless-enabled personal locator device.
TELEVISION WITH INTERACTIVE PORTAL AND SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USE OF SAME
A television with an interactive portal and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the television, the television is deployed to provide an interactive portal in a hospitality establishment having multiple rooms, such as a hotel. The television is associated with a room and includes a housing that secures a processor, memory, tuner, panel, and audio driver in an interconnected architecture. The television generates a guest interactive portal as well as a housekeeping interactive portal for a guest and housekeeper, respectively. Each of the portals provides relevant feedback on the condition of the room to a server associated with the hotel.
Hospitality media system that avoids network congestion and server load while providing media experience within guest room, and computer server and method thereof
A method of servicing requests for information at a server includes receiving a request for information from a client device, and determining a number of attempts of the request made by the client device. Both the client device and the server may count the number of attempts for each request. When the number of attempts is greater than a threshold, the method includes servicing the request and sending the information to the client device. When the number of attempts is not greater than the threshold, the method includes sending a service unavailable message to the client device. A retry-after delay may be calculated by the server according to a predicted time for the server to exit an overloaded state and included in the service unavailable message. The predicted time may take into account both requests currently being serviced and requests that have been scheduled to be serviced in the future.
Methods and systems for enabling communications between devices
Methods and systems for selecting and delivering content are provided. More particularly, content can be delivered to an output device from a user device through a device adaptor, such as an over-the-top (OTT) device. The OTT device or devices available to the user device are determined by a communication server. In particular, the OTT device or devices available to the user device are limited to those OTT devices associated with an output device in the user's room, or that the user is otherwise authorized to access.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING CONTENT OVER NETWORK
A transmitter and a method for transmitting content over a network is provided. The transmitter includes a user interface configured to select content, a transport stream (TS) encoder configured to convert a format of the selected content into a format that at least one receiver is able to process if the at least one receiver is unable to process the format of the selected content, and package the selected content with the converted format into a TS, and at least one modulator configured to broadcast the selected content packaged into the TS to the at least one receiver.
Set-Top Box with Interactive Portal and System and Method for Use of Same
A set-top box with an interactive portal and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the set-top box, the set-top box is deployed to provide an interactive portal in a hospitality establishment having multiple rooms, such as a hotel. The set-top box is associated with a room and includes a housing that secures a television input, a television output, a processor, a transceiver, and memory therein in an interconnected bus architecture. The set-top box generates a default interactive portal as well as a guest-specific interactive portal, which is generated from a guest configuration profile having information including guest identification, a guest channel preference presentation, and a guest service preference presentation with guest account information. The guest configuration profile may also enable the creation of a local area wireless network with substantially the same behavior as the guest's home wireless network.
WIRELESSLY STREAMING VENUE-BASED DATA TO CLIENT DEVICES
Methods and systems for streaming venue-based to one or more mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablet computing devices, laptop computers, smartwatches other wearable computing devices). Venue-based data (e.g., video, audio, other data) can be processed via one or more servers associated with a packet based wireless network having at least some aspects of a wireless network that can employ one or more optical frequency bands and one or more radio frequency band for data communications, said venue-based data associated with a venue (e.g., a stadium, baseball park, eSports event, etc.). The venue-based data can be wirelessly streamed from packet based wireless network to a mobile device (or multiple mobile devices) for display via a display screen associated with the mobile device after processing (e.g., image processing) of the venue-based data.
The gateway devices, in turn, send gateway signals to a server, which determines estimated location of the wireless-enabled personal locator device with time of arrival modeling.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRESENTING MEDIA CONTENTS IN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES
In one embodiment, a first image of a physical object external to an autonomous vehicle is received, where the first image is captured by an image sensor attached to the autonomous vehicle. An image recognition is performed on the first image to derive one or more keywords related to the physical object. A list of one or more content items are identified based on the one or more keywords. A first content item selected from the list of content items is augmented onto the first image to generate a second image. The second image is displayed on a display device within the autonomous vehicle.
