Video-on-demand content delivery method for providing video-on-demand services to TV service subscribers
A video-on-demand (VOD) content delivery system has a VOD Application Server which manages a database of templates for presentation of video content elements of different selected types categorized in hierarchical order. A web-based Content Management System receives content uploaded online in file formats with metadata for title and topical area, and automatically converts it into video data format compatible with the VOD content delivery system indexed by title and topical area. A User Interface for the system delivers listings data to the viewer's TV indexed by title and topical area specified by the uploaded metadata.
Method and system for generating dynamic text responses for display after a search
A system and method for operating the same includes a language processing module generating a search request text signal and determining identified data from the search request text signal. A search module generates search results in response to the search request text signal. A dialog manager classifies the search request text signal into a response classification associated with a plurality of templates, selects a first template from the plurality of templates in response to the response classification and corrects search results in response to the identified data and the template to form a corrected response signal. A device receives and displays the corrected response signal.
Data feed resource reservation system
An embodiment of a method includes receiving a subscription request specifying one or more destination sites to receive a video feed and respective times at which to deliver the video feed to each of the one or more destination sites over a terrestrial network, wherein respective delivery times are within a publication time range in which the video feed will be available, and configuring available resources to deliver the requested video feed to the one or more destination sites at the respective times.
Systems and methods for controlling advertising, upselling, cross-selling, and purchasing of products and services via user receiving devices and mobile devices
A user receiving device including at least one transceiver module, an output module, a control module, and a transaction module. The at least one transceiver module is configured to receive an ad or an offer transmitted from at least one backend device to the user receiving device. The offer is directed to a product and/or service referred to in the ad. The output module is configured to display the ad or the offer on a display. The display is connected to the user receiving device. The at least one transceiver module is configured to receive a response signal transmitted from a mobile device to the user receiving device. The response signal is in response to the offer. The transaction module is configured to perform a transaction between the at least one backend device and a user of the mobile device based on the response signal.
Cache Eviction During Off-Peak Transactions
Transaction activity of a cache maintaining content may be monitored to determine periods of transaction activity below a first threshold amount of transactions. A period of anticipated transaction activity above a second threshold amount of transactions may be determined. A period of anticipated transaction activity below the first threshold may be selected based upon the monitored periods of transaction activity below the first threshold and the determined period of anticipated transaction activity above the second threshold. Content then may be evicted from the cache during the selected period of anticipated transaction activity.
Systems and methods for signaling host devices via a broadcast channel with grouping filters
Embodiments include a system, method, and a computer program product for broadcasting a universal message to a plurality subscriber devices. Embodiments include generating a universal message comprising information identifying one or more target subscriber devices from among the plurality of subscriber devices to execute an update or an event, broadcasting the universal message to each subscriber device of the plurality of subscriber devices, receiving a request, from the one or more target subscriber devices, to transmit a payload when the universal message comprises instructions to execute the update, and transmitting the payload to the one or more target subscriber devices.
Data Communication
A network-based communication system has a source network apparatus and a destination network apparatus. The source apparatus receives a stream of information-bearing packets, the stream comprising gaps between at least some of the information-bearing packets. It generates one or more spacer packets, and generates an augmented stream of packets which comprises the information-bearing packets and further comprises spacer packets located within at least some of said gaps, wherein the spacing of the information-bearing packets in the augmented stream is the same as the spacing of the corresponding information-bearing packets in the received stream. It outputs the augmented stream of packets to a network link. The destination apparatus receives the augmented stream of packets and determines whether each received packet is an information-bearing packet or a spacer packet. It outputs or processes the received information-bearing packets, or information from these packets, but discards the received spacer packets.
Locally relayed broadcast and community service television
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for streaming live television broadcasts and providing DVR services to subscribers in a designated market area.
Content aggregation and distribution for real-time and non-real-time production
Systems, methods, and articles of manufacture for content aggregation and distribution for real-time and non-real-time production of video content items may be realized by receiving, at a first device from a second device, an annotated video stream that includes principal material in a principal spectrum (which is in-band for output on a display device) and supplemental material in a supplemental spectrum (which is out-of-band for the display device) and in response to receiving, from the downstream device, an indication that the principal material is of secondary interest and that the supplemental material is of primary interest: repackaging the annotated video stream to include the supplemental material in the principal spectrum via insertion, substitution, or splicing. The content may be repackaged in real-time with linear delivery, and in non-real-time with on-demand delivery, and various entities may add content for later inclusion, and adjust which content is transmitted to downstream entities.
LEGACY VIDEO NETWORK CONFIGURATION IN A DISTRIBUTED ACCESS ARCHITECTURE
In one embodiment, a method receives a network topology of a distributed access architecture and a legacy video network. Video streams include characteristics that are associated with delivery via the legacy video network. The method selects a set of anchor points for a remote physical device in the distributed access architecture where the set of anchor points are associated with a geographic location of the remote physical device. A set of attribute labels are selected for the set of anchor points where the set of attribute labels associated with characteristics of the video streams. The method then generates a definition of video streams based on the anchor points and the attribute labels for a remote physical device configuration and generates the remote physical device configuration for video. The remote physical device configuration is used to provide the video streams to the remote physical device.
