METHODS AND APPARATUS TO VALIDATE REFERENCE MEDIA ASSETS IN MEDIA IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to validate reference media assets in media identification systems. Example apparatus disclosed herein are to identify respective instances of media represented by corresponding candidate media resources to be verified, and cause the respective instances of media to be presented and monitored by corresponding ones of a plurality of virtual machines. Disclosed example apparatus are also to perform a comparison of a first one of the candidate media resources to a corresponding test media resource generated by a first one of the virtual machines that played and monitored a first one of the instances of media represented by the first one of the candidate media resources. Disclosed example apparatus are further to validate the first one of the candidate media resources based on the comparison.
Methods and systems for streaming content on a transportation vehicle
Methods and systems are provided for a transportation vehicle. One method includes caching, by a ground-based caching device, media content provided by a streaming service; pre-fetching, by a server on an aircraft, a subset of the cached media content that is likely to be viewed by passengers on the aircraft, the pre-fetched content stored in a cache on the aircraft; presenting, by a first device on the aircraft, a first subset of the pre-fetched content to a non-subscriber of the media content on a first flight; presenting, by a second device on the aircraft, a second subset of the pre-fetched content to a subscriber of the media content on the first flight; and storing, by the second device, viewing history of the second subset by the subscriber.
Storage system
In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a stored copy request indicating data and including a request identifier, scheduling publication of the data to an object store, and sending a subscription request indicating the data and the request identifier to the object store. In another embodiment, a method includes receiving a publication request indicating data to be copied, wherein the publication request is a recording request indicating a channel and a timespan, receiving one or more subscription requests for the data, receiving the data, and generating a copy of the data for each subscription request.
Localized cloud services for privacy-isolated clients
Various arrangements of a local cloud system for providing television services are presented. A facility cloud host system may have a content service provider interface that is used to receive live television channel streams from a television content service provider. The local cloud system may have a transcoder that transcodes the live television channels into a format to be transmitted locally to client devices. The local cloud system may provide access to recorded content from a remote master cloud host.
Intelligent assignment and data management of stored media content
A remote storage digital video recorder (RSDVR) retains multiple copies of media programs so long as the copies are expected to be useful to at least one user. Rather than assigning copies to specific users at the time the program is recorded, copies can be assigned as the users request access to the particular media programs. Copies of unassigned programs can be deleted according to a schedule to reduce disk storage and processing demands on the system. A pool of program copies that are not initially assigned to particular users can be maintained until the user makes a specific request to view the program. This “late assignment” of program copies can substantially reduce the amount of data stored by the RSDVR system without substantially impacting the viewer experience.
System and method for partial caching of video background
The present invention, disclose a method for cashing video which is distributed through data communication network, implemented by one or more processors operatively coupled to a non-transitory computer readable storage device, on which are stored modules of instruction code that when executed cause the one or more processors to perform: generating Multi part single video file encoded in a single compression container, logically partitioned to multi parts; determining and maintaining expiration dates for each part of video, wherein the expiration date of at least two video parts is different; Caching video parts based on video partitions in at least one main original server and local memory; upon request for the multi part video, checking validation (expiration date) of each video part fetching or retrieving each video part from local or remote caching location based on expiration date of said video part; generating video stream composed of all retrieved validated video parts.
Efficient and flexible load-balancing for clusters of caches under latency constraint
The present technology provides a system, method and computer readable medium for steering a content request among plurality of cache servers based on multi-level assessment of content popularity. In some embodiments a three levels of popularity may be determined comprising popular, semi-popular and unpopular designations for the queried content. The processing of the query and delivery of the requested content depends on the aforementioned popularity level designation and comprises a acceptance of the query at the edge cache server to which the query was originally directed, rejection of the query and re-direction to a second edge cache server or redirection of the query to origin server to thereby deliver the requested content. The proposed technology results in higher hit ratio for edge cache clusters by steering requests for semi-popular content to one or more additional cache servers while forwarding request for unpopular content to origin server.
Multimedia server for an onboard entertainment system, onboard entertainment system comprising such a server, method for controlling storage in such a server and associated computer program
A media server for an on-board entertainment system comprising terminals, the server comprising: a memory for storing media content; a distribution module configured to distribute stored media content to terminals; a controller for controlling the storage of media content in the storage module; wherein the controller is configured to collect the numbers of accesses via the terminals to the media content, to calculate the value of a retention parameter relating to each item of media content as a function of said number of accesses, and to automatically trigger the continued retention of said media content in the memory or its deletion as a function of at least said calculated value.

Method and system for efficiently compiling media content items for a media-on-demand platform
For the negotiation of an operator of a media-on-demand platform with its content providers a method and system for efficiently compiling media content items for the media-on-demand platform is provided. The method makes use of a combination of a recommender system to select a suitable set of media content items to be offered for a next period of service and a number-of-rentals predictor for estimating how many videos individual users will rent the following period of service. Furthermore, the method and system can be executed for estimating profit or loss from rentals over the following period of service as well as estimate customer satisfaction.
