In some implementations, the sequence of video frames is to be presented at the client device at a first frame rate. In some implementations, the method includes determining an availability of computing resources associated with providing the sequence of video frames to the client device. In some implementations, the method includes generating, based on the availability of computing resources, the sequence of video frames at a second frame rate that is greater than the first frame rate. In some implementations, the method includes triggering the client device to present the sequence of video frames at the first frame rate.

A method, system and computer program product for selecting a bitrate to stream encoded media. A manifest file is fetched, where the manifest file contains metadata for encoded media segments which includes tags signifying the associated encoded media segments being important to the viewer. A playback occupancy level is then increased before reaching these tagged media segment(s). A high bitrate (high quality) is selected to stream the tagged media segment(s) which are then fetched and played at the selected high bitrate in response to the new playback buffer occupancy level being above a threshold level. In this manner, those media segments that are of higher importance to the viewer will be viewed in a higher quality since content information is used to select the bitrate to receive the encoded media segments. As a result, the user's quality of experience in viewing media is improved.

A method of providing a Non-Real Time (NRT) service in a broadcasting receiver includes receiving a service map table (SMT) and a first descriptor through a service signaling channel, identifying an image identifier and an image type of an image for an NRT service based upon the first descriptor, receiving the image via a flute session and displaying the image when corresponding service is played, wherein the image is logo or icon data for the NRT service. The method may further include connecting a service signaling channel, parsing the received SMT and the first descriptor, determining whether a service is the NRT service based upon the parsed SMT and storing the received image.

In one aspect, a method involves selecting a first log-entry from a traffic log, wherein the first log-entry corresponds to a bug-removal DVE stored in the stunt switcher; selecting a second log-entry from the traffic log, wherein the second log-entry corresponds to a show-segment video-component (VC) and a start time; causing the VC to start being channeled through the stunt switcher proximate the start time; making a determination that a threshold time-period remains in a show portion of the VC; and responsive to making the determination that the threshold time-period remains in the show portion of the VC, causing the stunt switcher to run the stored bug-removal DVE, thereby removing any bug overlayed on the VC as a remainder of the VC is being channeled through the stunt switcher.

An example method involves (i) accessing a stored traffic log, wherein the log includes multiple ordered log entries including a first log-entry and a second log-entry; (ii) making a first determination that the first log-entry corresponds to a show-segment video-component (VC) of a live show, wherein the first log-entry further corresponds to a broadcast time-period; (iii) making a second determination that the second log-entry is positioned immediately after the first log-entry; (iv) making a third determination that the second log-entry corresponds to a manual start-time type; and (v) responsive to making the three determinations, enabling functionality of a trigger mechanism during the broadcast time-period, wherein the enabled trigger mechanism is configured to cause processing of a next log entry in the log in response to being triggered.
