Server for providing television and system and method for use of same
A sever for providing television and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the server includes a network interface controller that is configured to receive a source internet protocol television signal, which includes two channels, from an external source and at least partially prepare the source internet protocol signal in order to forward the signal to a television. The server saves in a buffer the at least partially prepared second channel beginning at a recent periodic, sequential signal access point. In response to receiving a channel request instruction from a requesting television when the server is forwarding the at least partially prepared first channel signal, the server forwards the at least partially prepared signal based on the second channel stored in the buffer beginning at the recent periodic, sequential signal access point.
PLAYER METHODS FOR CHUNKED CMAF LOW LATENCY PLAYBACK
A content streaming system and methodology for facilitating the management of content streaming. A video packaging and origination service provides streaming content that is organized according to a set of encoded content chunks. A video playback application processes the set of encoded content chunks to dynamically form a content segment for live video streaming. The video playback application further processes the set of encoded content chunks to apply framerate heuristics associated with encoded content segments.
REDUCTION OF STARTUP TIME IN REMOTE HLS
A method is provided for streaming transcoded HLS video from a video asset to allow a minimum startup delay time. A method includes pre-transcoding a first number of the HLS chunks. Then, once a request is received from a remote HLS client for the HLS video asset, transmitting a number of the pre-transcoded chunks to the remote HLS player. The pre-transcoded chunks are transmitted during a startup period until real-time transcoded chunks can be received and processed by the remote HLS player at a time position to allow seamless transition from the pre-transcoded chunks.
Scheme for zero-copy adaptive bitrate video streaming
A method includes capturing video frames of a video item to be transmitted as a livestream and delivering the video frames to a queue for an encoder of a user device. The method further includes determining that a subset of the video frames have been discarded. The discarding indicates that the subset of the video frames did not enter the encoder. The method further includes determining a frequency of discarded video frames. Responsive to the frequency exceeding a threshold frequency, the method includes reducing quality of the video item transmitted as the livestream based on the frequency by reducing one or more of frame rate of the user device, resolution of the user device, or encoder bitrate of the encoder.
COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS
A method for providing media data to a media player on board a vehicle. The method comprises, at a device on board the vehicle, receiving from a remote device one or more media data segments of a first media stream to be played in a single media session. The media data segments are stored in a transient buffer upon receipt at the device on board the vehicle and before playback by the media player. The method further comprises generating a plurality of playlists for the single media session. The plurality of playlists comprise a first playlist comprising a first media data segment stored in the transient buffer, and a second playlist comprising a second media data segment stored in a storage device on board the vehicle, the second media data segment of a second media stream.
Frame Dropping Method for Video Frame and Video Sending Apparatus
A frame dropping method for a video frame and a video sending apparatus are used to perform frame dropping processing on video frames in order to reduce a quantity of dropped frames, enhance video playing smoothness, and improve user experience. A specific solution includes obtaining a video frame sequence of a to-be-sent video, establishing a reference relationship between video frames in the video frame sequence according to a preset criterion, and detecting a data occupation length of buffered video frames in a video sending buffer during a process of sending the video frame sequence, dropping a current to-be-buffered video frame when the data occupation length is greater than a preset threshold, and dropping all video frames in the video frame sequence that reference the current to-be-buffered video frame according to the reference relationship.
System for management of a plurality of rendering machines to avoid transmission failures
An edge server is served by a rendering machine supplying groups of pictures (GOPs) and comprises a buffer for a predetermined lead time over actual time. If a rendering machine fails then the partially available GOP from that rendering machine is discarded and another rendering machine, having the capacity to handle the GOPs stream, is activated. It provides GOPS from the failed GOP onwards and rendering continues therefrom by the replacing rendering machine. Rendering initially at a faster than real-time speed it is possible to catch-up on time so that the edge server continues to receive and transmit the GOPs without interruption. A plurality of rendering machines continuously operate to feed the edge server(s) and the number of channels used is such that allows for sufficient redundancy as well as for the faster than real-time rendering that is necessary in the case of a need for failover.
Download control in multi-server communication system
Apparatuses and methods for data traffic management in multi-source content delivery are described. The apparatus includes a downloader and a controller. The downloader is coupled to servers via communication links. The controller is configured to determine initial download requests for the servers based on predetermined information about a quality of the links. The controller is also configured to send the initial download requests to the servers with the downloader. The controller is further configured to update the information about the quality of the communication links after the downloader receives data associated with a data file from the servers via the communication links. The controller is also configured to determine subsequent download requests for the servers based on the updated information about the quality of the communication links. The controller of further configured to send the subsequent download requests to the servers via the downloader. Rate adaptation is also proposed for each server, and download termination requests are transmitted to the servers when the download is almost complete at the apparatus.
Method for multicasting views of real-time streaming interactive video
Systems and methods for creating and delivering an interactive display of thumbnail windows of visual content of different video game sessions are presented. In one embodiment, a method provides for sending, by a server of a service, an interactive interface for display on display of a client device. The interactive interface has a set of thumbnail windows and each thumbnail window depicts visual content of different video game sessions being played. Responsive to a selection of a thumbnail window by a user of the client device, the method provides for sending a video stream associated with the selected thumbnail window from the set of thumbnail windows. The video stream enables the user of the client device to view interactive game play of a video game associated with the video stream.
MEDIA SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMPLEMENTING VARIOUS MODES USING FORCE INPUT
An image processing terminal in the media system comprises a receiving unit for receiving a control signal; and a processor for operating the image processing terminal in a specific mode according to the received control signal. A mode when the normal input is applied to a specific key differs that when the force input is applied to the specific key, modes differ depending on a sensing level of the force input, or the modes differ as the force input is applied to different keys, a first mode is changed to a second mode when the force input is applied to the specific key in the first mode, and a sensing level is calibrated to a first sensing level or a second sensing level, when an input applied to the specific key corresponds to an input between the first sensing level and the second sensing level.
