ENCODING/TRANSMITTING APPARATUS AND ENCODING/TRANSMITTING METHOD
This invention relates to an encoding/transmitting apparatus that is used to transmit moving-picture data from a transmitting side to a receiving side through a transmission path and to subject the moving-picture data to streaming in the receiving side. The apparatus has an external-output request determining unit (16) that monitors the state of a network. If the network assumes an undesirable state, the unit (16) causes a multiplex output unit (15) to stop multiplexing data. When the network assumes a good state, the unit (15) starts multiplexing the data again. A video encoding unit (11) and an audio encoding unit (12) keep encoding data, whether the multiplex output unit (15) is multiplexing data or not. When the area occupied by encoded data in an encoded-video-data storage unit (13) and the area occupied by encoded data in an encoded-audio-data storage unit (14) exceed a predetermined value, the units (11) and (12) stop encoding data, and wait until the area occupied by encoded data sufficiently decreases.
Systems and methods for achieving ad avoidance by selectively switching media streams
Systems and methods are disclosed herein for avoiding playback of an advertisement by selectively switching between media streams. To this end, a media guidance application receives a plurality of media streams from different sources, switches to a first media stream and plays back a first media asset of the first media stream, and determines that an end to playback of the first media asset is imminent. The media guidance application then determines whether a second media stream of the plurality of media streams is within a threshold amount of time of playing back a beginning of a second media asset, and if the second media stream is within the threshold amount of time of playing back the beginning of the second media asset, the media guidance application switches from the first media stream to the second media stream and plays back the second media asset.
RECEIVING DEVICE, TRANSMITTING DEVICE, AND DATA PROCESSING METHOD
Provided are a device and a method capable of efficiently performing a synthesis process of broadcast reception data and network reception data. Broadcast reception data received by a receiving device via a communication unit is set as a media source object corresponding to a processing object of an application executed by the receiving device under an application programming interface (API). The application executes a synthesis process of the broadcast reception data and network reception data received via a network as processing for the media source object. The application obtains a time offset corresponding to a time difference between an application time axis and a broadcast time axis on the basis of an API application process to execute a high-accuracy and low-delay data synthesis process.
DYNAMIC TOPOLOGY GENERATION FOR BRANCHING NARRATIVES
A playback application is configured to dynamically generate topology for an interactive media title. The playback application obtains an initial topology and also collects various data associated with a user interacting with the feature. The playback application then modifies the initial topology, based on the collected data, to generate a dynamic topology tailored to the user. The dynamic topology describes the set of choices available to the user during playback as well as which options can be selected by the user when making a given choice. In addition, the playback application also selectively buffers different portions of the interactive media title, based on the collected data, in anticipation of the user selecting particular options for available choices.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR OPTIMIZING PUBLICATION OF LIVE BROADCASTING MESSAGE
A method and a system are provided for optimizing publication of live broadcasting message. The method includes: configuring a message transferring station between a messager pool for publishing a live broadcasting message and a stream creating component; creating by the stream creating component the live broadcasting message and sending by the stream creating component the live broadcasting message to the message transferring station; and sending by the message transferring station the received live broadcasting message to the messager pool.
Remote storage digital video recorder streaming and related methods
Systems, devices, and methods for streaming or otherwise delivering media content over a network are provided. One exemplary method of streaming media content over a network using a RS-DVR system involves receiving, at the RS-DVR system, a request for a portion of the media content from a media player on a client device via the network, receiving, at the RS-DVR system, the portion of the media content from an origin server on the network, buffering the portion of the media content at the RS-DVR system, and transmitting the portion of the media content to the media player on the client device. The portion of media content may be transmitted using a modified transport layer protocol, and in some embodiments, marked as non-cacheable.
Method and Apparatus for Distributed Broadcast Production
This disclosure describes methods and systems for managing video frame rate at a video production site. A video processor of a first video production site may process received video frames received via a network with dynamic transmission properties. A frame rate controller may monitor at an output buffer of the site, an average rate of processed video frames received from the video processor, and may detect that the average rate of processed video frames received from the video processor has decreased to a level below a predefined output frame rate for transmitting processed video frames to a third video production site. The frame rate controller may increase a rate of video frames being provided to the video processor, to a level above the predefined output frame rate to restore the average rate of processed video frames received from the video processor, to the predefined output frame rate.
Data transmitting device and method
A device for transmitting a packet includes a first processor configured to generate a first packet based on a first content; a second processor configured to generate a second packet independently from the first processor based on a second content; a signaling processor configured to generate a signaling packet based on the first content and the second content; and a communication interface configured to transmit the first packet, the second packet, and the signaling packet, wherein the first processor, the second processor, and the signaling processor respectively generate the first packet, the second packet, and the signaling packet in parallel.
BURST TRAFFIC PROCESSING METHOD, COMPUTER DEVICE AND READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM
The present disclosure describes techniques of processing burst traffic. In the present application, when a service request is received, it is determined whether there is service data corresponding to the service request in a buffer unit. If so, the corresponding service data in the buffer unit is directly sent to a client computer so as to reduce access pressure of a second service layer; if not, determining whether a request frequency associated with the service request is greater than a frequency threshold; when the request frequency of the service request is greater than the frequency threshold, it indicates that the second service layer of the service type corresponding to the service request reaches the upper limit of capacity. In this case, the service request is sent to a first service layer so as to acquire corresponding service data.
VARIANT AND BUFFER HANDLING FOR ADAPTIVE BITRATE STREAMING
A method is provided to manage playback of adaptive bitrate streaming video using using a stall time delay. The method includes pausing playback of a segment of a variant when a playback point reaches a download point, marking a stall time that marks a point in time in the segment at which playback was paused, determining a remaining playback time, determining a remaining download time, selecting an offset time, determining a wait time, determining a resume time, and waiting to resume playback at least until the download point reaches the resume time.
