According to one embodiment, a video distribution server includes an SSD and an SSD operator. The SSD includes a storage medium and a controller. The controller executes a wear leveling process on the storage medium. The SSD operator gives the controller an instruction to disable a wear leveling function. The wear leveling function provides the wear leveling process.
Encoding system and encoder reallocation method
An encoding system includes a plurality of encoders each of which encodes a signal having continuity supplied from a corresponding one of a plurality of information sources and generates a packet containing a portion of the encoded signal. Each encoder is classified as a first encoder which encodes the signal, or a second encoder which transfers the packet from at least one of the first encoders, to a communication network and which, when the first encoder has failed, replaces the failed first encoder. When a failure occurs in either one of the first and second encoders for any of the signals, the other one of the encoders detects the occurrence of the failure, reallocates the encoders other than the failed encoder so as to act as the first encoder or second encoder for respective ones of the information sources, and notifies each encoder of the result of the reallocation.
INTEGRATED INTELLIGENT SERVER BASED SYSTEM FOR UNIFIED MULTIPLE SENSORY DATA MAPPED IMAGERY ANALYSIS
An integrated intelligent server based system includes at least one autonomous system containing one or more analytical server for unified multiple sensory data mapped multi-modal or multi-sensory imagery analysis, generating analysis result and streaming of the sensory data with the generated analysis result to the receiver module. A fail safe and fault tolerant technique to generate, store and stream the multi-sensory images to the receiver module is also proposed. Once received, the receiver module extracts the sensory data and the results of the sensory data analysis from the image and video using a suitable decoder. The integrated intelligent server based system would enable embedding the results of the sensory data analysis within the image itself and streaming the multi-sensory image embedded with the results of said sensory data analysis to a receiver module. This results in adopting this new concept in Internet of Things scheme of activities as well.

A method for providing media content in a computer network includes storing the media content, where the media content includes a segment having a group of frames. The method also includes determining a transmission rate for traffic to a client device. The method further includes selecting a subset of frames to drop from the group of frames based on (i) the transmission rate and (ii) a frame difference distortion (FDIFF) metric of each frame in the subset of frames. The method also includes shaping the segment by dropping the selected subset of frames from the group of frames, where the shaped segment has a lower bitrate than the segment. In addition, the method includes transmitting the shaped segment to the client device.

One or more devices may receive activity logs from multiple set-top-boxes (STBs); determine that an outage has occurred based on the activity logs; identify one or more STBs, of the plurality of STBs, that failed to play back paid content during the outage, or where playback of paid content, by the one or more STBs, was interrupted during the outage; and credit corresponding accounts associated with the one or more STBs.
System and method for providing session based encryption from a video pump
A system includes a session and resource manager and a video pump. The session and resource manager negotiates encryption keys from a headend controller and provides the encryption keys to a video pump. The video pump uses the encryption keys from the session and resource manager to encrypt content. Thus, the video pump uses encryption keys to encrypt the content so that it is encrypted right from the video pump prior to transmission over the entire transport system. A generic modulation device may thus be used to modulate the encrypted content over the delivery network.
Uninterrupted playback of video streams using lower quality cached files
Disclosed are various embodiments for facilitating uninterrupted playback of video streams using lower quality cached files. A video file corresponding to an entirety of a video content feature encoded at a first quality is obtained. A video stream corresponding to the video content feature encoded at a second quality higher than the first quality is then obtained. The video stream is rendered for playback on a display. In response to detecting an unavailability of the video stream at a particular time in the video content feature, the video file is rendered for playback on the display in place of the video stream and commences at the particular time in the video content feature.
Image Transmission Device and Image Transmission Control Device
An encoder encodes moving image data and generates encoded moving image data. A transmission buffer accumulates the encoded moving image data. A transmission/reception unit transmits the encoded moving image data to an image reception device via a wireless communication line. A failure detector predicts whether or not the failure of a real-time transmission of the encoded moving image data occurs, and detects the time until the failure occurs. When the failure is predicted to occur, an encoding controller controls the encoder to decrease, within the detected time, the target bit rate when the encoder encodes the moving image data.
