Ultra-low latency video streaming
Techniques are described for low-latency streaming of media content using a lossless protocol. For example, a media stream, comprising encoded video data, can be streamed to a plurality of streaming clients via the lossless protocol. The plurality of streaming clients can be monitored to determine whether any of them have fallen behind in streaming the media stream. When a streaming client falls behind, a portion of video data to be streamed to the streaming client can be selectively dropped based on scalability information and/or long term reference (LTR) frame information. The low-latency streaming can be performed without using per-client quality feedback from the plurality of streaming clients. When streaming using a semi-lossy protocol, a plurality of delivery modes can be used, where each delivery mode is for a different type of encoded video data and provides a different level of reliability.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS TO MONITOR A MEDIA DEVICE VIA A USB PORT
An audience measurement computing system for monitoring a media presentation device in a monitored environment is described and includes a network interface, at least one processor, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions executable by the processor(s). The computing system is configured to obtain, via a cable connected to an input port of the media presentation device, a voltage signal generated by the media presentation device based on an operational state of the media presentation device; compare voltage indicated by the voltage signal to a threshold; based on the comparing, generate timestamped operational state data comprising a record indicative of when the media presentation device is in an on-state; obtain audience measurement data representing one or more media signals communicated to the media presentation device; and transmit, via the network interface over a network and to a central facility, the timestamped operational state data and the audience measurement data.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR A WINDOW-METRIC RULE
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed for a window-metric rule for return path data (RPD). In some examples, a media monitor is to determine a first count of a number of devices in a first household that reported RPD for a first day, and compare the first count to a current window-metric, the current window-metric associated with a window of time for the first household, the window of time associated with a content provider and having N number of days. In some examples, the media monitor is also to exclude the RPD from the first household for the first day when the first count does not satisfy the current window-metric, and generate a media exposure report using the RPD from the first household for the first day when the first count satisfies the current window-metric, independent of if the first household has heartbeat data available.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING ENCRYPTED, PRE-RECORDED MEDIA CONTENT IN PACKET DATA NETWORKS
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device having a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations including receiving encrypted hypertext transport protocol (HTTPS) traffic including media content; separating the HTTPS traffic into audio segments and video segments; calculating a size for each audio segment in the HTTPS traffic; maintaining a sliding window of a plurality of sizes of consecutive audio segments to form a fingerprint; and identifying the media content by matching the fingerprint with a reference in a catalog. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Intelligent remote control
A content access device and system may allow portable remote devices to be paired with a variety of different devices, allowing remote control through a network connection. Content access devices may expose application program interfaces, allowing incoming network traffic to control operation of the device much in the same way that a local infrared remote would. Routing content commands through an external application server may also yield other benefits, such as allowing more customized selection of information and advertising content to users based on their viewing history.
Policy based transcoding
Methods and systems are disclosed for providing video content in response to requests in a content delivery system with more speed and efficiency. In some aspects, network monitoring devices may gather content specific and network performance metrics, from user devices and content delivery components, to provide input to a computing device for deciding whether to store or delete different versions of the same or different items of content. The decision may be based on a policy which may include a weighted score based on a combination of usage and network efficiency scores. In other aspects, methods and systems are provided to initially provide to a user device a stored version of a content item, and then switch, as needed, to a different version of the content item using on-demand transcoding.
Content-modification system with transmission delay-based feature
In one aspect, a method includes determining a content-transmission delay between a content-distribution system and a content-presentation device. The method also includes using at least the determined content-transmission delay as a basis to select, from among a plurality of reference fingerprint data sets, a reference fingerprint data set that corresponds with the determined content-transmission delay. The method also includes transmitting to the content-presentation device, the selected reference fingerprint data set that corresponds with the determined content-transmission delay to facilitate the content-presentation device detecting a match between query fingerprint data representing content received by the content-presentation device and at least a portion of reference fingerprint data in the transmitted reference fingerprint data set.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR STREAMING CONTENT
A computing device may receive a stream of content (e.g., a live stream of content). The computing device may determine a plurality of representations for the stream of content. The computing device may determine a primary encoder associated with each of the plurality of representations. Determining the primary encoder may be based on the plurality of representations. The computing device may determine viewer data associated with the stream of content. The computing device may determine whether to encode a backup representation for at least one of the plurality of representations. Determining whether to encode the backup representation may be based on the viewer data associated with the stream of content. The computing device may cause at least one backup encoder to encode the backup representation for the at least one of the plurality of representations.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR EFFICIENTLY DOWNLOADING MEDIA ASSETS
Methods and systems are described for downloading media assets efficiently and quickly before loss of network connectivity. The method may allow a user to download portions of a media asset in different versions to download a maximum portion of the media asset before loss of network connectivity. Certain versions of media assets may be downloaded more quickly than other versions of media assets. The method may also allow a user to view partially downloaded media assets without network connectivity. The method may also replace portions of media assets downloaded in a first version with portions of the media assets in a second version once network connectivity is restored.
VIDEO-LOG PRODUCTION SYSTEM
Methods, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for composing a video in accordance with a user goal and an audience preference are described. For example, a processing system having at least one processor may obtain a plurality of video clips of a user, determine at least one goal of the user for a production of a video from the plurality of video clips, determine at least one audience preference of an audience, and compose the video comprising at least one video clip of the plurality of video clips of the user in accordance with the at least one goal of the user and the at least one audience preference. The processing system may then upload the video to a network-based publishing platform.
