VIDEO STREAMING CONTROL
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a media server having a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate sending a data stream to a display device. The data stream may include an identification thereof. Upon receiving the identification from a user, the media server associates the data stream with the user. The media server may send to the user, a listing of the media services to which the user has subscribed. Upon receiving, from the user, a selection of a selected media service, the media server streams the selected media service to the display device over the data stream. The data stream may be controlled with the user for as long as the media server detects the user in a vicinity of the display device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
ESTIMATING VOLUME OF SWITCHING AMONG TELEVISION PROGRAMS FOR AN AUDIENCE MEASUREMENT PANEL
Disclosed example apparatus to determine volume of switching (VoS) among television programs examine first viewing data associated with a first time period and second viewing data associated with a second time period to identify a first set of panelists represented in both the first and second viewing data; in response to a size of the first set of panelists satisfying both first and second thresholds, estimate the VoS based on a first subset of the first viewing data and a second subset of the second viewing data associated with the first set of panelists; and in response to the size of the first set of panelists satisfying the first but not the second threshold, estimate the VoS based on the first and second subsets, and a third subset of the first viewing data and a fourth subset of the second viewing data associated with a second set of panelists.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ARRANGING OVER-THE-TOP CONTENT IN USER INTERFACES
Methods and systems are described herein for a media guidance application that arranges media listings in a user interface based on a quality of service associated with a content provider for each media listing.
Method and apparatus for optimizing advertisement placement
A system and method for scheduling at least one advertisement for presentation in connection with at least one media program is presented. In one embodiment, the method comprises determining a measure of engagement of at least a portion of the at least one media program, selecting the at least one advertisement from the plurality of advertisements based at least in part upon the determined measure of engagement of the at least a portion of the media program, and scheduling the selected advertisement for presentation in connection with the selected at least one advertisement.
Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to estimate local market audiences of media content
Disclosed example audience measurement apparatus determine a first audience metric based on set-top box return path tuning data obtained from set-top boxes located in a first geographic area; determine a second audience metric from a portion of audience measurement data corresponding to a second geographic area, the portion of the audience measurement data associated with monitored sites in the second geographic area having second set-top box characteristics that correspond with first set-top box characteristics of the set-top boxes located in the first geographic area; determine ratios of (i) respective first audience metrics determined for respective demographic stratifications to (ii) corresponding second audience metrics determined for the respective demographic stratifications; and combine the ratios after multiplication with third audience metrics determined, for the respective demographic stratifications, from the audience measurement data to determine an audience exposure metric that estimates exposure to media in the first geographic area.
System for detection and analysis of viewership anomalies
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method of receiving, by a processing system including a processor, viewership data for a plurality of viewers watching a program; identifying, by the processing system, an anomalous event from the viewership data, wherein the viewership data includes data points per viewer logged on a per second basis, and wherein the processing system identifies the anomalous event using a pattern recognition algorithm; analyzing, by the processing system, the viewership data to determine a reason for the anomalous event; and providing, by the processing system, a user interface that presents a comparison of the anomalous event versus a standard and indicia for the reason for the anomalous event. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Proxy Assisted Panoramic Video Streaming at Mobile Edge
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, system for tile-based video streaming using a proxy executing at a mobile edge cloud, which adaptively offloads decoding and merging of video tiles from mobile devices to the mobile edge cloud. A processing system including the proxy communicates with a video server and a client device. The proxy receives a request for video content from a client device; the request includes historical field of view (FoV) information. The proxy predicts a client FoV, requests video tiles from the server, downloads the tiles from the server, generates a video chunk by decoding and merging the downloaded tiles, and delivers the video chunk to the client device. The client device performs local decoding and rendering of the generated video chunk. Other embodiments are disclosed.
DATA DELIVERY SYSTEM AND METHOD
There is provided a data delivery system (10) for providing multimedia content data to users, wherein the data delivery system (10) includes a data server arrangement (120) for supplying the multimedia content data to the users, an advertisement content data server arrangement (140) for providing advertisement content data to the users, and a control centre arrangement for coordinating supply of the multimedia content data and the advertisement content data to the users. The users have spatially locally thereto computing hardware and associated display hardware for presenting the multimedia content data and the advertisement content data received at the users, wherein the computing hardware is operable to execute program instructions (50, 60) for presenting the multimedia content data and the advertisement content data received at the users. The program instructions (50, 60) are operable to cause the computing hardware to report to the advertisement content data server arrangement (140) an operating status and data processing capability of the computing hardware and associated display hardware, and the advertisement content data server arrangement (140) is operable to select advertisement data content for supplying to the users, customized for each user, depending upon the operating status and data processing capability, as well as a profitability associated with selecting the advertisement data content.
System and Method for Universal, Player-Independent Measurement of Consumer-Online-Video Consumption Behaviors
A system that is an independent measurement system to gauge video consumption or viewing is disclosed. Methods for formulating a universal set of measurements or metrics that is operable across all video players, video-content types, ad (advertisement) networks, display devices, and browsers is also disclosed. This set of measurement or metrics advantageously is configured to operate consistently and equally well regardless of the particular video player, video-content type, network, display devices, and browsers that are used.
