SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IMPLEMENTING MASTER/SLAVE CONFIGURATION DATA TO REDUCE AN AMOUNT OF CONFIGURATION DATA THAT NEEDS TO BE CENTRALLY STORED FOR LARGE-SCALE DISTRIBUTION
20230104351 · 2023-04-06 ·

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for storing configuration data as a set of master data and override data where one set of configuration data is defined as the master and every other set of configuration data is defined as override configuration data. A media guidance application may generate master configuration data including the most common configuration data used in the geographical region served by the media guidance application, and number of override configurations which contain only those data which differ from the master configuration data for a number of sub-regions of the geographical region. This reduces duplicative configuration data, and the media guidance application need only store one full set of configuration data, namely the master configuration data, and a number of smaller override configurations.

Coordinator for preloading time-based content selection graphs

The described technology is generally directed towards coordinating the generation, validation and enabling of content selection graphs in an in-memory content selection graph data store. When a set of content selection graphs is requested, a coordinator starts the generation of the relevant graphs. Upon successful generation, the coordinator starts a validation of the generated graphs against rules for the nodes/response data in the graphs. If the generated graphs pass validation, the coordinator enables the graph set for use in an in-memory cache, whereby when a request to return content selection data is received, an active graph that corresponds to the request and the current time is accessed to obtain and return the response data as the requested content selection data.

GENERATION, PROVISION AND INTERACTIVE DISPLAY OF SPOOLING MEDIA PACKAGES AND RELATED ANALYTICAL INFORMATION
20230156260 · 2023-05-18 ·

A facility for generating and displaying information regarding the packaging of individual media asset files associated with multiple scheduled presentations of interstitial media assets is provided. Scheduling information is received regarding future scheduled media presentations for each of a plurality of media assets via one or more content channels. Based at least in part on the received scheduling information, one or more package files are generated such that each package file includes a plurality of media asset files, each corresponding to at least one of the future scheduled media presentations, for distribution to a plurality of distinct media receivers. Database information is generated regarding the generating of the one or more package files, such that the database information includes a completion time associated with the generating of each package file. At least a portion of the generated database information is displayed on a user client device coupled to a multichannel media distribution computing system.

Use of primary and backup instances of supplemental content to facilitate dynamic content modification

Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for facilitating dynamic content modification. An example embodiment operates by provisioning, by a content-management system in network communication with a content-presentation device, the content-presentation device with multiple supplemental content segments including a primary supplemental content segment and a backup supplemental content segment in response to a modifiable content segment being scheduled to be present at an upcoming time on a channel that is being received by the content-presentation device. After the provisioning and before the upcoming time, the example embodiment selects one of the provisioned supplemental content segments for application by the content-management system in the dynamic content modification at the upcoming time. The example embodiment further performs the selecting based on whether the modifiable content segment will actually be present on the channel at the upcoming time.

A system for generating, providing and/or receiving an encapsulated service guide data.

Method and Related Apparatus for Providing Media Presentation Guide in Media Streaming Over Hypertext Transfer Protocol
20170374122 · 2017-12-28 ·

A method and a related apparatus for providing a guide media presentation in media streaming are disclosed. The method include obtaining, by a client, a media presentation description (MPD) of a guide media presentation, where the MPD of the guide media presentation describes N guide units included in the guide media presentation, obtaining K guide units in the N guide units according to the MPD of the guide media presentation, and presenting the K guide units, where each guide unit in the K guide units points to one main media presentation, and presentation quality of a main media presentation to which a guide unit i in the K guide units points is higher than presentation quality of the guide unit i. Solutions support a video guide in an Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)-based media streaming service scenario and improve user experience.

CONTENT ADVISORY RATINGS INFORMATION

A method for decoding a service guide associated with a video bitstream comprising: receiving a fragment within said service guide; receiving content advisory ratings element; said content advisory ratings element includes at least one of a region identifier, a rating description, a rated dimensions, a rating dimensions value, a rating dimension and a rating value; and decoding said service guide.

METHOD, DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR PRESENTING INFORMATION

Provided are a method, a device and a system for presenting information. The method includes: acquiring at least one preset information presentation time point in a video to be played and a pre-stored presentation information set associated with video content at the information presentation time point, where the presentation information set corresponds to the information presentation time point in a one-to-one manner; selecting to-be-presented information from the presentation information set corresponding to the information presentation time point based on historical browsing information, to obtain the to-be-presented information corresponding to the information presentation time point; and sending the to-be-presented information corresponding to the information presentation time point to a terminal.

Method of processing EPG metadata in network device and the network device for controlling the same

A method of processing EPG metadata in a network according to one embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of performing a services discovery procedure utilizing multiple service discovery metadata components supplied by a service provider and processing an EPG metadata. Moreover, the performing step includes the steps of receiving a master SI table which locates in a master SI table location in provisioning information, the provisioning information including multiple elements, an EPG provider information element in the multiple elements having both a first delivery layer element and an EPG data locator element, the first delivery layer element giving a type of delivery layer that is delivered by at least one of an EPG metadata provider's EPG data sources, receiving a virtual channel map table which locates in virtual channel map locations in the received master SI table, receiving a virtual channel description table which locates in virtual channel description table locations in the received virtual channel map table, and receiving a source table which locates in source table locations in the received virtual channel description table.

Increased user efficiency and interaction performance through dynamic adjustment of auxiliary content duration

Improved operation of a content presentation device is achieved by displaying, to a user, user-desired primary content on the physical display device. Content pod metadata can be received specifying a predefined duration of a content pod for displaying auxiliary content, different from primary content, within a break from the primary content for the predetermined duration. The content pod metadata also specifies a plurality of subdivision time slots of the content pod, each time slot for different auxiliary content. The auxiliary content can be displayed on the physical display device within a time slot of the content pod. User input can be received while displaying the auxiliary content on the physical display device, where the user input indicates user interest in the auxiliary content. The auxiliary content can then be adjusted based on the user interest in the auxiliary content.
