A method and system for planning and running video-on-demand (VOD) advertising includes a planner for planning advertising campaigns and an ad selector for running selected advertisements from selected ones of the campaigns. The campaigns are associated with household demographic classifications, video content category categories, household geographic locations, and/or video viewing times. In response to a viewer requesting a video, the selector selects the campaigns corresponding to the demographic classification associated with the viewer, the content category of the requested video, the geographic location associated with the viewer, and/or the viewing time at which the requested video is viewed. The demographic classification is determined by using an identifier of the viewer's set-top-box. The selector may select the campaigns corresponding to the content categories of the requested video. The content categories are determined by using an identifier associated with the requested video.

Method for transmitting services information in different types of broadcasting networks and unit for processing said information
A method for transmitting services information in a broadcasting network by at least one managing center towards a plurality of receivers connected on one hand to a digital data streams broadcasting network of DVB type and on the other hand to a digital data streams broadcasting network of IP type, said streams comprising content data of the services and additional information data on said services structured in tables adapted to the transmission protocol specific to each type of network. The method comprises the steps of exploring the streams broadcasted by the network of type DVB and the streams broadcasted by the network of type IP and extracting services information from these streams, completing an information table, situated at the highest level in the hierarchy of the services information tables, included in the service information DVB-SI transmitted by the DVB network by services information related to the IP network, and transmitting the completed information table in the streams broadcasted by the DVB network towards the receivers having two switchable receiving modules, connected respectively to a DVB and an IP services broadcasting network. The receivers are able to activate the reception of digital data of a service, equivalent to the service currently received, with a second receiving module when the receiving conditions by the first receiving module are degraded.

A constant number of data units of respectively-constant size in every successive time interval with constant cycle duration for the transmission of every individual datastream is determined. A data structure is specified for the common datastream with successive sequences in each case of a constant number of data units with respectively-identical positions for data units of the stationary-digital television signal and respectively-identical positions for data units of the mobile-digital television signal. Data units of each of the datastreams of the mobile-digital television signal are transmitted in each case in associated, identical positions of at least one successive sequence, and define the individual positions of the data structure of the common datastream with data units of the respectively associated datastreams.

A method and a device for forming a common transport datastream from several mobile-digital television signal datastreams and a common stationary-digital television signal datastream. One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for assembling a single content stream that enables downloading of a content collection using the single content stream over a network. During operation, the system obtains the content collection that includes a plurality of content components, and generates a manifest for the content collection. A respective entry in the manifest corresponds to a content component. The system assembles the single content stream by including the manifest followed by the plurality of content components. The manifest and the content components are packaged into objects under a same namespace, thereby facilitating a requester requesting one or more content components within the content collection using interests under the same namespace.

In one aspect, a bonded cellular system includes a client in communication with a transmitter having a number of cellular modems and a server in communication with a receiver. A file can be transmitted from the client to the server by parsing the file into data packets and dividing transmission of the packets among the number of cellular modems. One of the cellular modems can act as an internet access point for the client, through which the client can send metadata associated with the file to the server. Based on the received metadata, the server can perform various operations on the received file. In one embodiment, the file can include media content, and, based on the metadata, a server of a media-broadcasting system can associate the media content with a particular story of a rundown for a television news broadcast.

A log file including prediction information specifying a local advertisement content allocation amount and a general advertisement content allocation amount over a predetermined duration of time is received. A chronological schedule designating media content spots and advertising spots for the predetermined duration of time is also received. It is determined that a sold amount of local advertisement content during a particular time period, which is less than the predetermined duration of time, is insufficient to fill the local allocation during that time period, A portion of the local allocation is reallocated to the general allocation for the particular time period, while leaving the local and general allocation amounts unchanged over the predetermined duration of time. A program log is generated in accordance with the prediction information and the reallocating.
