BROADCAST RECEPTION DEVICE, BROADCAST RECEPTION METHOD, AND BROADCAST RECEPTION PROGRAM
A broadcast reception device includes: a program recording execution unit that stores, into a recording-content storage area, program identification information for identifying a broadcast program, and storage-destination information for specifying a server device storing the broadcast program; a reception function execution unit that transmits the program identification information and the program storage-destination information to the server device specified from the program storage-destination information; and an output unit that outputs sound information and image information on the broadcast program transmitted from the server device.

In-Band Trick Mode Control
A server may receive metadata associated with specific content in a transport signal stream from a content information service. The metadata may identify a point in time of the transport signal stream. The server may instruct an encoder to insert a marker into the transport signal stream corresponding to the point in time of the transport signal stream. The marker may indicate control of a trick mode to be enforced by a delivery platform subsequent to the point in time of the transport signal stream. The server may record the marker in a data store associated with the server.

REDUCING DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER STORAGE THROUGH REDUCED ENCODING OF CERTAIN PROGRAM PORTIONS
Systems, devices and processes reduce the amount of memory or disk space needed to store encoded video content used in adaptive video streaming by eliminating certain portions of the recorded program from one or more copies of the encoded program. Content occurring before or after a scheduled start of a program, for example, can be retained in only a subset of the encoded copies so that the program content is available to be streamed, but only at certain video qualities. Commercials or other less popular portions may also be eliminated in one or more encoded copies. By eliminating the less-likely-to-be-viewed portions of the content from some (but not all) of the encoded copies, the total amount of storage space needed to store the encoded program is reduced without compromising the ability to play back all portions of the recorded program.
Adaptive Bitrate Streaming Time Shift Buffer
Various embodiments describe methods, systems, and devices for deploying live media content as a time-shifted playback. Exemplary implementations may receive, from a client computing device, a content request for a time-shifted playback of live media content. The time-shifted playback may use a unique copy of a live media content configured for playback associated with the content request. The content request may indicate a past point in time in the live media content from which the time-shifted playback originates. The client computing device may be provided access to an assigned private path for accessing segments of the time-shifted playback starting from a requested segment that corresponds to the indicated past point in time. Access by the client computing device to further segments of the time-shifted playback may be prevented in response to determining that the subsequent content request for playback of the second live media content is received.
Storage system
In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a stored copy request indicating data and including a request identifier, scheduling publication of the data to an object store, and sending a subscription request indicating the data and the request identifier to the object store. In another embodiment, a method includes receiving a publication request indicating data to be copied, wherein the publication request is a recording request indicating a channel and a timespan, receiving one or more subscription requests for the data, receiving the data, and generating a copy of the data for each subscription request.

GENERATING VIDEO ON DEMAND (VOD) USING NETWORK DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDING (NDVR)
Disclosed herein are embodiments generating video on demand (VOD) using network digital video recording (NDVR). A method includes receiving a video on demand (VOD) request for generating a VOD package of a video broadcast prior to a broadcast. The method further includes retrieving electronic program guide (EPG) metadata related to the video broadcast. The method further includes sending a digital video recording (DVR) request to a network digital video recording (NDVR) system to record the video broadcast. The method further includes obtaining a video recording of the video broadcast generated by the NDVR system. The method further includes generating a VOD package of the video broadcast, the VOD package including the video recording, and VOD metadata of the video recording. The method further includes sending the VOD package of the video broadcast toward a VOD system to distribute the VOD package.
PERSONAL VIDEO RECORDER WITH LIMITED ATTACHED LOCAL STORAGE
This disclosure generally relates to systems and methods that facilitate employing a server based content recording component for recording content remotely for a client content video recording device that has limited storage and limited number of content streams to which it can access concurrently, while satisfying content rules for broadcast and re-transmission.
