Updating content libraries by transmitting release data
There are many boxes (e.g., set-top boxes) in a system offering media services to users. Each of the boxes maintains a library with a significant number of titles. Techniques for updating the library in each of these boxes using a transmission infrastructure are described. According to one aspect of the techniques, a service provider is provided with a high bandwidth broadcasting or multicasting capability, a release fragmented into a header and several segments is transmitted to all boxes that are respectively configured to receive a proper release package to update the library. Alternatively, separate release packages may be transmitted via different channels to the boxes, wherein each of the boxes is tuned to a proper channel to receive a proper release package.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ACCESSING STORED CONTENT
Methods and systems are described for storing content. One or more sections of the stored content may be subdivided into user-specific portions and common portions. The user-specific portions may be stored in user-specific storage associated with corresponding accounts of a plurality of user accounts. The common portions may be stored in common storage associated with the plurality of user accounts. User accounts may request access to the stored content. One or more caching criteria may be used to determine whether to cache any common portions of the stored content. Requests for the content may be processed using the common portions stored in the cache storage.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROGRAMMABLE LOOP RECORDING
A loop recording system allows users to remotely save and share short recorded video, audio, or combination clips using portable devices equipped with cameras, microphones, and sensors. The loop recording system enables users of portable devices, such as smartphones, tablets, smart watches, etc., to record moments of interest during live events (hereinafter called “loops”, “recordings”, or “loop recordings”), while preventing unwanted data loss and conserving memory resources of the portable device. In exemplary embodiments, the loop recording system has loop recording intervals that can be defined by the user or can be predetermined, certain recordings can be automatically saved rather than overwritten, and/or the number of recordings that are saved may be programmable by the user or predetermined. The loop recording system can also prevent unwanted erasure of data, facilitating the tagging of loops, sharing of loops, and enhancing the loops using post processing means.

DISTRIBUTION AND MANAGEMENT OF CONTENT FROM A MULTI-TIER CONTENT DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
A multi-tier content distribution system includes a first repository, a second repository, and a third repository from which to distribute content. The first repository serves as a first choice from which to distribute requested content to a requesting party. If the requested content is not available from the first repository, the multi-tier content distribution system attempts retrieval and distribution of the requested content from the second repository, which serves as a backup resource to the first repository. If the requested content is not available from the second repository, the multi-tier content distribution system attempts retrieval and distribution of the requested content from the third repository, which serves as a backup resource to the second repository. The multi-tier content distribution system includes a content management resource operable to selectively populate the second repository with pre-formatted content retrieved from the third repository.
Method and system for confirming the download of content at a user device
A system and method includes a first device having an ordering interactive interface having available content. The first device forms a content selection corresponding to the on-demand content from the interactive interface and communicates the content selection to a content processing system. The content processing system communicates a control word to the user device. A user device receives the content corresponding to the selection in response to the control word. The content processing system or the user device generates an email indicative of a completion of storing the content in the user device.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SELECTING, CAPTURING, AND DISTRIBUTING CUSTOMIZED EVENT RECORDINGS
A system that enables an event or moments within an event to be captured and provided in a record that preserves at least some aspects of the participant's perspective of the event. In particular, the present invention involves centralized recording of the event in one or more modes including video, audio, and still image recordings and a system that enables a participant (i.e., one who perceives the event) to select portions of the event recording substantially contemporaneously with the event occurrence. A personalized record is made by duplicating the selected portions from the event record. In a particular example, the personalized record is recorded on a digital media such as a compact disc (CD) or digital video disk (DVD) or the like.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DISTRIBUTING INTERNET CARTOON CONTENT, AND RECORDING MEDIUM
A method and a system for distributing Internet cartoon content, and a recording medium are disclosed. The content distribution method comprises the steps of: registering a high-definition original image for at least one unit scene of all the unit scenes of the cartoon content; and capturing the high-definition original image of the unit scene selected by a user from the cartoon content.
