An electronic device and an operating method thereof are disclosed according to embodiments. An electronic device according to an embodiment includes: a camera; a display; a communication interface; a memory for storing one or more instructions; and a processor that executes the one or more instructions stored in the memory, the processor being configured to: generate an event instructing to display one or more markers on a screen of a display device and transmit the event to the display device; control the camera to capture an image of at least a portion of a wall around the display device using the one or more markers displayed on the screen of the display device according to the generated event; generate a background image to be displayed on the screen of the display device based on the obtained image; and transmit the generated background image to the display device such that the generated background image is displayed on the screen of the display device.
User defined rules for assigning destinations of content
A media guidance application is provided by which users can define rules for assigning user equipment devices as destinations for media content. For example, a user may define a rule by which selected media content having attributes that satisfy a user-defined condition are downloaded, recorded, or streamed to a particular, user-specified user equipment device. The user may define and manage rules using media guidance menus, and may restrict other users from accessing the rules (e.g., parents restricting children).
System for presenting media programs
A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may use, for example, a method for sending a set-top box an identification of the media player, receiving operational instructions from the set-top box according to the emulator executed by the set-top box that emulates a user interface of the media player by presenting a representation of the media player in a graphical user interface, and transmitting media content to the set-top box according to the operational instructions. The emulator can be supplied to the set-top box by way of a multimedia system communicatively coupled to the set-top box. The user interface presented by the set-top box by way of the emulator substantially mimics functions of the media player. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
Using timed transport stream for receiver-side inter-device communication
Systems, methods, devices, and non-transitory media of the various embodiments facilitate real time playback of a digital broadcast by enabling reduction of the amount of time a receiver device's low power mode interface with a separate computing device operates in an operational/high power mode. The receiver device may associate a stream of media packets of a digital broadcast with system time clock timestamps indicating when the media packets were received, and store the media packets in a temporary packet buffer. Periodically, a media packet burst stored in the temporary packet buffer may be sent to the separate computing device via a low power mode interface operating in an operational/high-power mode different than a low power mode. The low power mode interface may be returned to the low-power mode until the next burst of packets is sent to the separate computing device.

Apparatuses and methods for wireless synchronization of multiple multimedia devices using a common timing framework are disclosed. In one aspect, a wireless multimedia source device is configured to establish wireless connections with a plurality of multimedia sink devices. The wireless multimedia source device is further configured to calculate a correction time interval for each multimedia sink device based on a difference between a master program clock reference (M.sub.PCR) and a local program clock reference (L.sub.PCR) feedback signal from the multimedia sink device. Presentation time stamp (PTS) data is generated based on the correction time interval and provided to the multimedia sink device. In another aspect, a wireless multimedia sink device is configured to receive a correction time interval based on a difference between an M.sub.PCR for the multimedia source device and an L.sub.PCR for the multimedia sink device, and calculate an updated L.sub.PCR based on the correction time interval.
Attention estimation to control the delivery of data and audio/video content
A method implemented in a computer system for controlling the delivery of data and audio/video content. The method delivers primary content to the subscriber device for viewing by a subscriber. The method also delivers secondary content to the companion device for viewing by the subscriber in parallel with the subscriber viewing the primary content, where the secondary content relates to the primary content. The method extracts attention estimation features from the primary content, and monitors the companion device to determine an interaction measurement for the subscriber viewing the secondary content on the companion device. The method calculates an attention measurement for the subscriber viewing the primary content based on the attention estimation features, and the interaction measurement, and controls the delivery of the secondary content to the companion device based on the attention measurement.
Detecting user devices to determine state of watched show
Devices, systems, and methods for detecting user devices to determine a state of a watched show are provided. A digital video recorder (DVR) is configured to store a media file associated with a media program. The DVR detects one or more user devices within a predetermined vicinity while the media program is being played. The DVR identifies users who are interested in the media program. The DVR tracks a watch status associated with the media program indicating which users have watched or are watching the media program based on the detected user devices. For stored media files, the DVR determines whether to delete the media file based on whether all users who are interested in the media program have completed watching the media program. The DVR may track user activity and/or vital signs based on sensor data from wearable devices, for example, to determine user reaction and/or user interests.
Digital Jukebox Device with Karaoke and/or Photo Booth Features, and Associated Methods
Certain exemplary embodiments relate to entertainment systems and, more particularly, certain exemplary embodiments relate to jukebox systems that incorporate digital downloading jukebox features along with karaoke jukebox and/or photo booth features. A combined karaoke/photo booth/jukebox may enable more integrated performance-like experiences in an in-home or out-of-home location or venue. By leveraging vast audio media libraries, trusted rights-respecting network infrastructure, and on-site image/video capturing from integrated recorders and/or remote portable devices, a more sociable experience may be created for karaoke jukebox patrons, e.g., where custom content can be generated and shared in a safe and legally appropriate manner.

Provided is a mobile information terminal that performs data transmission and reception, the data transmission and reception including video data reception. The mobile information terminal includes a communication management execution module that obtains a communication amount of data transmitted and received by the mobile information terminal in a predetermined period, and a remote viewing execution module that compares the obtained communication amount to a preset predetermined value and makes an image quality of the video data selectable according to a relationship between the obtained communication amount and the predetermined value.
Apparatus and method for managing media content delivery for multiple communication devices
A system incorporating teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a server having a controller to monitor for a first adjustment made by a first communication device associated with a user where the first communication device is capable of presenting media content and where the first adjustment is associated with the presentation of the media content, determine a second adjustment to be made to a second communication device associated with the user where the determination is based at least in part on the monitored first adjustment where the second adjustment is associated with the presentation of the media content and where the second communication device is a battery-operated mobile device, and wirelessly communicate adjustment information to the second communication device that is representative of the second adjustment, where the adjustment information is adapted for allowing the second communication device to perform the second adjustment.
