METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ENHANCING SET-TOP BOX CAPABILITIES
Methods and systems are disclosed herein for determining which of two multimedia devices to use to process a multimedia signal. A user may select a multimedia program from an interactive program guide. The first device will determine whether the multimedia specifications of the selected program exceed the capabilities of the first device. If so, the first device will transmit the multimedia signal to the second device without attempting to process it, and instruct the second device to process the signal and output the data obtained therefrom. If not, the first device will process the signal and transmit the multimedia data obtained from the signal to the second device for output.
METHODS AND APPARATUS TO PERFORM MEDIA DEVICE ASSET QUALIFICATION
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to perform media device asset qualification are disclosed. An example apparatus includes an asset quality evaluator to identify candidate media device assets obtained from a media device that identify media. The example apparatus further includes an asset grader to grade the candidate media device assets based on calculating a valid hash count corresponding to a number of matches between a first one of the candidate media device assets compared to a second one of the candidate media device assets using a hash table, and identify the first one of the candidate media device assets as a reference media device asset, the first one having a higher grade compared to grades of other candidate media device assets. The example apparatus further includes an asset loader to generate a validation report including the identification of the reference media device asset.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND MEDIA FOR MANAGING MIRRORING SESSIONS OF MEDIA CONTENT
Various arrangements for performing the playback of media content are provided. A computing device can cause a media content item to be transmitted to a display device for presentation. An event that is associated with the presentation of the media content item can be detected. In response to the event, a mirroring session can be resumed on the computing device.
Entertainment Server And Associated Social Networking Services
Certain exemplary embodiments relate to entertainment systems that interact with users so as to provide for social networking and/or other services. In certain exemplary embodiments, an entertainment system is configured to provide jukebox-related and entertainment system mediated services that are accessible from within and from the outside of the location, coordinating social networking services among and between patrons within and outside of the location and also providing for advertisement opportunities. In certain exemplary embodiments, the entertainment system within a location may serve as and/or be connected to a jukebox. The entertainment system within the location may be connected to one or more client devices, one or more displays, one or more bar-top or hand-held gaming devices, etc., in certain exemplary embodiments. The jukebox-related and entertainment system mediated services may provide mechanisms for enhancing patrons' experiences, creating a sense of ownership and/or belongingness to a connected community of entertainment system users.
Method and apparatus for identifying content using IPTV devices
A method and apparatus for identifying content using one or more Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) devices by accessing a user's account using a secondary device and selecting content provided by a service provider. The service provider sends an identifier that specifies the selected content to a first IPTV device that will display content. The selected content is added to a user's content list in the user's account; and played on the first IPTV device. During the time of playback on the first IPTV device, the user is able to browse content using the secondary device or another IPTV device. Thus, the user is able to browse and search for additional content without disturbing the display of the selected content.
Image display device and method for controlling the same
A display device including a display; a first external interface configured to be connected to a first external device; a second external interface configured to be connected to a second external device; and a controller configured to display, on the display, a first image content received from the first external device connected to the display device via the first external interface, display, on an external source list menu for selecting the first external device or the second external device, a first image obtained by capturing the first displayed image content, wherein the first image is captured based on a first signal received from a remote controller and the first captured image is used as a first label representing the first external device, display, on the display, a second image content received from the second external device connected to the display device via the second external interface, and display, on the external source list menu, a second image obtained by capturing the second displayed image content, wherein the second image is captured based on a second signal received from the remote controller and the second captured image is used as a second label representing the second external device.
METHOD FOR PROVIDING A REMOTE PERSONAL COMPUTER SERVICE TO A DIGITAL DEVICE
A method of connecting a digital device to a remote personal computer (PC) includes: requesting an access to the remote PC in response to executing a remote PC service through a user interface for changing a setting of the digital device; setting a network connection for providing the remote PC service in response to identifying request information associated with the request from the remote PC; encoding, by the remote PC, screen information displayed on the remote PC as a moving picture; receiving, by the digital device, the encoded moving picture from the remote PC; and decoding, by the digital device the encoded moving picture and playing the screen information of the remote PC on a display of the digital device.
Controlling one or more source terminals based on remote control information
Embodiments of the present application relate to a method, apparatus, and system for controlling one or more source terminals. The method includes acquiring remote control code information submitted via a remote control terminal, the remote control code information specifying an operation to be performed, determining among one or more source terminals a target source terminal corresponding to the remote control code information, and sending to the target source terminal control instruction information corresponding to the remote control code information and causing the operation to be performed on the target source terminal.
On-Screen Television Input Management
A television system that provides an on screen display menu system that allows a user to select from available input source using a graphical user interface. The television system also automatically adapts to the type on input signal selected for display. The television system and on screen display menu also support interaction between the television system and attached devices to unify the control of such devices including attached personal computers through the remote control of the television system.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND MEDIA FOR TRANSFERRING PLAYBACK OF MEDIA CONTENT
Methods, systems, and media for transferring playback of media content are provided. In some implementations, the method comprises: receiving a request to initiate a mirroring session in which a tabbed window including a page having a plurality of media content items is rendered on a computing device and transmitted as a video stream to a display device that is in communication with the computing device over a local area network; encoding the video stream including the tabbed window and the plurality of media content items; transmitting the encoded video stream to the display device via the local area network; determining that a user of the tabbed window on the display device intends to view a media content item from the plurality of media content items on the page; inhibiting presentation of the media content item on the computing device; causing the media content item to be decoded and presented on the display device; detecting an event associated with presentation of the media content item on the display device; and, in response to detecting the event associated with presentation of the media content item on the display device, causing the mirroring session to resume.
