GENERIC STREAMING MEDIA DEVICE CONFIGURED AS SET TOP BOX
Methods and systems are described for setting up, in one embodiment, a generic streaming media device as a set-top box for a multichannel content provider that provides a content delivery service. The set up process can be performed automatically and as background operations while a user manually sets up the device, in foreground operations, for use with an online streaming media store or source of content. The set up process can use a device token that was previously associated with the multichannel content provider for use with the device during the set up process. The device token can be stored by the developer of the device and sent by the developer to the multichannel content provider during a set up process of the device; the device token can be opaque to the developer but provides information used by the multichannel content provider to set up the device as a set top box.
Resource retrieval method in an intelligent identification system and intelligent identification system
The present disclosure relates to a resource retrieval method in an intelligent identification system and an intelligent identification system. Herein, the intelligent identification system is associated with multiple resource servers provided by multiple resource service providers. The method comprises: receiving retrieval information input by a user, and identifying a resource type represented by the retrieval information (S1); determining, in the multiple resource servers, multiple target resource servers corresponding to the resource type, and transmitting the retrieval information to the multiple target resource servers (S3); and receiving retrieved resources fed back by the multiple target resource servers in regard to the retrieval information, and displaying the retrieved resources to the user (S5). The technical solutions provided in the present disclosure may simplify a user's resource acquisition manner.
Personal base station system with wireless video capability
A personal base station (PBS) having wireless video capability. The PBS authenticates a mobile device within range for cellular services, and authenticates the user for a level of service for cable television. The PBS operates in accordance with a dual-purpose subscriber identity system (SIS) includes a subscriber mobile identity component (SMIC) and a video security component (VSC) such that the cellular and television services can be authenticated. Mobile devices incorporating the disclosed innovations, as well as the PBS, can access video content from a cable television provider through any available broadband link, regardless of the mobile device's physical location.
CONTROL METHOD OF PLAYING CONTENT AND CONTENT PLAYING APPARATUS PERFORMING THE SAME
An example content playing apparatus includes an output unit configured to output an image and voice; a user recognition unit configured to recognize a plurality of users viewing content played by the output unit; and a controller configured to select at least one of the plurality of users based on predetermined criteria and control playing of the content according to the at least one selected user.
Electronic apparatus, method and program for selecting content based on time of day
An electronic apparatus including a control circuit that controls access to content and determines an operation mode of the electronic apparatus, and a monitoring circuit that monitors the access to the content, acquires content access information, and generates a table. The control circuit causes each of the content access information acquired by the monitoring circuit and the table generated by the monitoring circuit to be stored in a non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of the electronic apparatus. The monitoring circuit can update the content access parameters as additional content access information is acquired, and when the control circuit determines that the electronic apparatus is in an active mode, the control circuit can refer to the table and select, when access parameters of the active mode match the updated content access parameters, a current content to be output from the electronic apparatus.
INTERACTIVE NOTIFICATIONS BETWEEN A MEDIA DEVICE AND A SECONDARY DEVICE
A method includes obtaining an association of a client device with the secondary device. The method further includes identifying a triggering event related to an operation of the secondary device. The method also includes responsive to identifying the triggering event, sending, by the secondary device via a network, a message to the client device with a request for information related to the operation of the secondary device. The client device may have a client device interface configured to present the message and to receive input pertaining to the message. The method includes receiving, via a network, input pertaining to the information from the client device. The method further includes configuring the secondary device to perform the operation at the secondary device using the input received from the client device.

NETWORKING MODULES FOR DISPLAY SYSTEMS
The disclosure relates to modem and router modules for use with digital display systems, including televisions. A modem module is configurable to attach to a set-top box, a set-back box, directly to a digital display, or may even be integrated into display equipment. Router functions and ports can be integrated into the module to provide for networking of additional devices in proximity to the module and/or display, using either or both wired and wireless access technologies. Systems including the module convert power to the appropriate forms for delivery to the different devices, hardware, and components associated with the module. The modem and routing functions are configurable to provide separate security domains to isolate or direct traffic among the various networked devices.
Control method of playing content and content playing apparatus performing the same
An example content playing apparatus includes an output device including a display and a speaker; and one or more controllers configured to recognize a plurality of users viewing content played by the output device, select at least one of the plurality of users based on one or more criteria, and control playing of the content according to the at least one selected user.
Apparatus for managing members of at least one group of decoders having access to broadcast data
A technique to manage members of a group of decoders having access to broadcast data, each group member sharing a common broadcast encryption scheme (BES) comprising the steps of, in a stage for a decoder to become a group member, receiving keys pertaining to the position in the group according to the BES, receiving a current group access data comprising a current group access key, and in a stage of accessing broadcast data, using the current group access data to access the broadcast data, and in a stage of renewing the current group access key, sending a first group message comprising at lease a next group access key encrypted so that only non-revoked decoders can access it, said group message being further encrypted by the current group access key, updating the current group access key with the next group access key.
