Media Presentation Device with Voice Command Feature
A media presentation device determines a voice command associated with media content presented by the media presentation device. The media presentation device then listens for and detects utterance of the determined voice command during presentation of the media content, and the media presentation device responds to the detected utterance by performing an action that facilitates user purchase of the good or service associated with the media content segment.
CONTROL WITH DISTRIBUTED COMMAND PROCESSING
Example techniques described herein involve a point-of-contact (POC) playback device that operates as an intermediary between the cloud and a media playback system that includes the POC playback device. As the intermediary, when the cloud issues a command to the media playback system, the POC playback device may perform some or all processing of the command to determine how to implement that command in the media playback system. For instance, the POC playback device may determine the target devices for a command, and then cause the target devices to carry out the command. This processing by the POC playback device may simplify control of the media playback system from the perspective of third party controllers, as these controllers need not have full and/or completely up-to-date knowledge of the media playback system functionality and status, among other possible benefits.
Controller capable of detecting user's fingerprint
A controller (e.g., a remote control) stores channel information preferred by the user or program information preferred by the user. The controller recognizes the user by detecting the user's fingerprint, and controls the display device or a set-top box that communicates with the display device such that a list corresponding to the recognized channel information preference or a list corresponding to program information is displayed on the display device.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING ENGAGEMENT DURING MEDIA EXPOSURE
Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed for measuring engagement during media exposure. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, machine readable instructions, and processor circuitry to at least one of instantiate or execute the machine readable instructions to identify media presented via a media device in a media presentation environment, identify ambient audio detected in the media presentation environment, determine whether the ambient audio is distractive to presentation of the media in the media presentation environment, and adjust a media exposure report based on a determination that the ambient audio is distractive.
Systems and methods for facilitating configuration of an audio system
A system for facilitating configuration of an audio system tests the existing audio system configuration by playing reference audio clips of various different genres of programming, the audio of which is received by a microphone of a remote control device or other handheld mobile device at various different listening points in the room. The system then compares the audio signal representing audio of the reference audio clip received at the microphone to a reference audio signal representing the reference audio clip and determines other audio characteristics. The system then determines, based on the comparison and other characteristics of the room (e.g., furniture layout, room construction materials, wall treatments and current speaker positioning) suggested changes to a configuration of the audio system to increase audio quality of the audio system for playing audio associated with the various different genres of programming.
Method and apparatus for interactive reassignment of character names in a video device
Systems and processes are provided for interactive reassignment of character names in an audio video program including a tuner configured for receiving and demodulating a video signal to extract the audio video program, a user input operative to receive a user request to substitute an original character name within the audio video program with an alternative character name, a memory configured to buffer the audio video program to generate a delayed audio video program, a processor configured to detect the original character name within the audio video program and to replace the original character name with the alternative character name within the delayed audio video program to generate a modified audio video program, and a loudspeaker configured to reproduce the alternative character name in response to the modified audio video program.
Video broadcasting through selected video hosts
A method for providing captured video to a subsequent user device, via a desired video host, including at least some of allowing a user to designate, via a mobile device, at least one desired video host; allowing the subsequent user, via the subsequent user device, to be associated with the at least one desired video host; allowing the user to capture video, via the mobile device, and upload or stream the captured video to the desired video host device(s), wherein the captured video includes at least one categorization for the captured video, as designated by the user prior to capturing the video; and allowing the subsequent user to access, via the subsequent user device, the captured video, via the video host device associated with the at least one desired video host, wherein the captured video is accessed, based on the at least one categorization for the captured video.
Frequency band selection and processing techniques for media source detection
Example methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture (i.e., physical storage media) to perform media source detection based on frequency band selection and processing are disclosed. Example meters disclosed herein are to compare a first audio signal from a monitored media device with a second audio signal from a first one of a plurality of media sources in communication with the monitored media device to determine a sequence of match results, the first audio signal associated with media presented by the media device. Disclosed example meters are also to compute a standard deviation of time delays associated with respective ones of the match results. Disclosed example meters are further to determine whether the first one of the media sources is a source of the media presented by the monitored media device based on the standard deviation.
System and method for storing personal information
The present invention relates to a system and method for a mobile application and web based personal history storage and retrieval. The system stores all personal information of a user in a plurality of selectable categories and in a selectable chronological manner. The system has a server coupled to a storage system for generating user interfaces for the application and web and for storing user information. The system enables users to enter information and important dates and events during their life to be sorted and filtered in chronological order. The application enables the information to be stored for future use, similar to a time capsule. The system enables the information to be retrieved allowing friends and family to view a full documentation of their loved one's life with ease.
Short segment generation for user engagement in vocal capture applications
User interface techniques provide user vocalists with mechanisms for solo audiovisual capture and for seeding subsequent performances by other users (e.g., joiners). Audiovisual capture may be against a full-length work or seed spanning much or all of a pre-existing audio (or audiovisual) work and in some cases may mix, to seed further contributions of one or more joiners, a user's captured media content for at least some portions of the audio (or audiovisual) work. A short seed or short segment may span less than all (and in some cases, much less than all) of the audio (or audiovisual) work. For example, a verse, chorus, refrain, hook or other limited “chunk” of an audio (or audiovisual) work may constitute a short seed or short segment. Computational techniques are described that allow a system to automatically identify suitable short seeds or short segments. After audiovisual capture against the short seed or short segment, a resulting, solo or group, full-length or short-form performance may be posted, livestreamed, or otherwise disseminated in a social network.
