Method for Processing Video Frames, Video Processing Chip, and Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation MEMC Chip
A method for processing video frames, a video processing chip, and a Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation (MEMC) chip are provided. The method performed by the video processing chip includes obtaining multiple video frames and adjusting each video frame from a first resolution to a second resolution. The method also includes inserting at least one invalid frame into the multiple video frames according to a second frame rate, so that a frame rate of a transport frame stream is the second frame rate; and sending the transport frame stream to an MEMC chip. The video processing chip and the MEMC chip may perform transmission of a frame stream according to an interface frequency corresponding to a resolution and a frame rate that are agreed upon.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a processing system obtains encoded video content, and transmits the encoded video content over a network for presentation at a communication device by a video player executing on the communication device. The encoded video content is decoded in a decoding process by a decoder of an operating system of the communication device to generate decoded video content; the decoded video content is analyzed by a complexity analyzer of the operating system to generate a video complexity report. The method also includes receiving the video complexity report over the network from the communication device, and adjusting a data rate for the encoded video content, based at least in part on the video complexity report, to generate adjusted video content for transmission to the communication device. Method for efficient processing of BTP enabled MPEG4 stream
A system is provided for providing a trickplay operation using a digital video recorder (DVR) when the video includes Broadcom Transport Packets (BTPs) designed for MPEG-2, but in an MPEG-4 video steam. In a first embodiment, to enable trickplay to function properly with MPEG-4 video, the BTP descriptors included with each group of data frames are disabled so that a single descriptor provided without BTPs that would otherwise be provided in MPEG-4 is all that remains. In a second embodiment, the 5 descriptors for MPEG-4 are combined into a single descriptor. In a third embodiment, the pace of decoding of the MPEG-4 descriptors is increased so that the speed of encoding all the 5 descriptors is comparable to the pace of decoding a single MPEG-2 descriptor.
Combined broadcast and backchannel delivery of streaming content
Streaming content may be delivered through a combination of broadcast and a backchannel. A desired streamlet may be selected from the packet of information and presented with a display. A remainder of a data stream associated with the streamlet may be requested and received from via a backchannel while the desired streamlet is being presented. The remaining data stream may then be presented with the display.
