Various beverage preparation systems, components, and methods are disclosed. In some embodiments, the system includes a brewer machine and a beverage pod. The brewer machine can include a brew chamber unit, which can receive the beverage pod. The brew chamber unit can be adapted to receive multiple beverage pod types. Some embodiments include a drawer that includes the brew chamber and that moves to present the brew chamber unit to a user. Certain embodiments include locking mechanisms.

The coffee machine has at least one infusion unit and at least one filter holder that is manually connected to and disconnected from the infusion unit for preparation of coffee, and it comprises at least one added support element of the filter holder for keeping it attached to the coffee machine when the filter holder is not connected to the infusion unit, said added support element comprising heating means for heating said filter holder to a predetermined temperature. The additional support element can be implemented also as a standalone element and, therefore, not connected to the coffee machine.

A brewing unit, machine and system for the preparation of a beverage using prepackaged capsules. The brewing unit (1) includes a piercing and liquid-supplying device (23, 34, 35) having points (35) for piercing the top wall (12) of a capsule (C) and a conduit (36) for supplying a flow of pressurized liquid to a brewing chamber above the top wall (12) of the capsule (C) and thereafter inside the capsule (C) through the pierces holes in the top wall. A drawer (3) holds a capsule (C) such that its top wall (12) lies in an inclined plane. A discharge channel (40) is provided in the drawer and in fluid communication with the region above the top wall (12) of the capsule (C) when, after the beverage has been prepared and dispensed, the piercing and liquid-supplying device moves from the extracted work position to the retracted rest position to allow the remaining liquid to be poured into the discharge channel (40).

A cordless coffee making device for brewing coffee without accessing a power grid includes a housing having a reservoir, for addition of water, a brewing compartment, for addition of a carafe and a basket that contains coffee grounds, and a power compartment. A pipe is attached to and extends between a bottom of the reservoir and an upper end of the brewing compartment. A heater is positioned in-line with the pipe is operationally engaged to a switch. A first connector in the power compartment is engaged to the switch and is complementary to a second connector of a battery that can selectively power a plurality of implements, wherein each implement comprises a first connector. The battery is attached by engaging the second connector to the first connector. The switch actuates the heater so that hot water flows through the pipe into the basket, causing coffee to collect in the carafe.

The coffee machine has at least one infusion unit and at least one filter holder that is manually connected to and disconnected from the infusion unit for preparation of coffee, and it comprises at least one added support element of the filter holder for keeping it attached to the coffee machine when the filter holder is not connected to the infusion unit, said added support element comprising heating means for heating said filter holder to a predetermined temperature. The additional support element can be implemented also as a standalone element and, therefore, not connected to the coffee machine.

A coffee brewer contains a brewing unit in which coffee grounds having been poured in are compressed by a plunger driven by an actuator. Heated water flows through the compressed coffee grounds. A control device controls the actuator in accordance with signals of an angle of rotation sensor. The control device first moves the plunger against a stop in an ejection position to calibrate the sensor, then moves the plunger by a predetermined distance in a downwards direction into a pouring-in position. Afterwards the control device moves the plunger by a second distance into the brewing position, a length of the predetermined distance and the second distance corresponds to a number of pulses of the sensor which are stored in the memory. The control device subsequently moves the plunger by a third distance back into the ejection position in which the coffee grounds are removed from the plunger.

Disclosed is a coffee powder compressing device for a coffee maker, comprising an accommodating chamber (11a); a filter assembly (17); a movable pressing block (5); a first sealing ring (6); and a brewing chamber (B) formed by the first sealing ring (6), the movable pressing block (5) and the filter assembly (17); an extrusion portion (5a) being disposed on the lower end of the movable pressing block (5), when the movable pressing block (5) is situated at the second position and the filter assembly (17) is located into the accommodating chamber (11a), the extrusion portion (5a) inserts into the cavity (12a); thereby, by means of compressing the coffee powder through the extrusion portion (5a), solving the problem that the tightness of the compressed coffee powder is difficult to be controlled and the laborious problem in the existing coffee powder pre-compressing methods.

The present invention relates to a pod-holding device (100) for a beverage dispensing machine. The pod-holding device comprises a first (7) and a second (11) extraction subunit, the first extraction subunit (7) sealingly closing against the second subunit (11) so as to form, when closed, an extraction chamber for the pod, and, when open, allow insertion of the pod between the two subunits (7, 11).

The present invention relates to dispensing of a substance from a container by means of a dispensing apparatus. Specifically, the exemplary embodiment of the present invention relates to (1) a container and (2) the automated method for opening such container and (3) the automated method of dispensing of the contents from such container into a customer receptacle or glass.
