Systems and methods are provided herein for displaying recommendations that are temporally relevant to activities of a user and are contextually relevant to a portion of viewed media. This may be accomplished by a media guidance application identifying activities a user has planned, as well as respective times for which each of the plurality of activities was planned to be performed by the user. The media guidance application may filter the activities by determining which of the first plurality of activities has a corresponding respective time that is within a threshold period of time. The media guidance application may then identify characteristics of each filtered activity and of a media asset that the user is consuming at the present moment, and may compute whether the characteristics match. If the characteristics match, the media guidance application may generate for display a recommendation relating to the respective activity.

An electronic communications method includes receiving, by a device, electronic information. A time period between receiving the electronic information and the additional electronic information is less than another time period between receiving the electronic information and the additional electronic information by using a standard keyboard.

The present disclosure describes techniques of processing bullet comments. The techniques comprise obtaining a page of playing a video for outputting a video stream; obtaining a plurality of pieces of bullet comment data associated with the video stream; and performing a bullet comment processing operation with a predetermined time interval, where the bullet comment processing operation includes performing bullet comment processing at a logical layer on the plurality of pieces of bullet comment data. In the embodiments of the present application, a balanced time interval may be set as the predetermined time interval to regularly perform a bullet comment processing operation, so that smoothness of displaying bullet comments and proper use of computing resources are ensured.

Systems and methods for enhancing virality for a content item are disclosed herein. A content item is uploaded to a content sharing platform over a communication network. Feedback on the content item is received from the content sharing platform over the communication network. Based on the feedback, a virality score for the content item is determined and a determination is made as to whether the virality score meets a virality criterion. In response to a determination that the virality score does not meet the virality criterion, a virality enhancement technique is selected from a virality enhancement database, the content item is modified by applying the virality enhancement technique to the content item, and the modified content item is uploaded to the content sharing platform over the communication network.

One variation of a method includes: rendering a home screen of an ad stream viewed on a display of a streaming device accessed by a user, the home screen including an image player located in a first subregion of the home screen and a set of icons selectable by the user, each icon corresponding to a video advertisement loaded within the image player; in response to detecting a first user input proximal a first icon, reconfiguring the image player to a second subregion of the home screen and triggering playback of a first video advertisement within the image player; and, during playback of the first video advertisement, in response to receiving a second user input proximal the first icon, reconfiguring the image player to a third subregion of the home screen, activating an audio stream corresponding to the first video advertisement, and continuing playback of the first video advertisement.

A method, comprising receiving live video streams from different live streaming platforms, presenting the live video streams to users in video tiles in an aggregated live streaming platform, and allowing the users to navigate and select among the video tiles of the aggregated live streaming platform to view and interact with the live video streams.

In accordance with a method for presenting home screen shortcuts, a computer system is coupled to a plurality of media content providers and obtains a respective media application for each of the media content providers. Content is provided for display on the television screen from a first media content provider via a first media application. The computer system obtains a plurality of shortcuts corresponding to a home screen user interface, and the plurality of shortcuts includes one or more media shortcuts and a search shortcut. The home screen user interface is displayed concurrently with the provided content on the television screen, and the one or more media shortcuts and the search shortcut are concurrently displayed on the home screen user interface. In response to selection of the search shortcut, the computer system initiates a shortcut search for one or more additional shortcuts for display on the home screen user interface.

A user interface for a television display includes a remote control with a touch pad. The remote control communicates wirelessly with a receiver. Periodic samples of touch positions are time stamped only when they are received at the receiver, and the time stamps are quantized to the interval of the periodic samples. During scrolling, multiple directional gestures may be used to increase speed of scrolling. A swipe and hold gesture may be used to control the speed of scrolling, which is dependent on the length of time of the hold.

The electronic device includes a display, a processor, and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to display, when a video supporting a plurality of orientation regions is played, a screen of a first orientation region among the plurality of orientation regions and a first text corresponding to a voice of a first speaker in the screen, and display, in response to a user input of selecting a voice of a second speaker located in a second orientation region, a screen of the second orientation region.

Disclosed is a display apparatus comprising: a display; a user input unit; and a processor configured to identify a user's viewing time based on a user's viewing history, create a list of content to be provided within the identified viewing time based on the viewing history and display the created content list on the display, and select at least one piece of content in the content list for viewing schedule based on a user input through the user input unit.
