METHOD OF MONTORING USAGE OF AT LEAST ONE APPLICATION EXECUTED WITHIN AN OPERATING SYSTEM, CORRESPONDING APPARATUS, COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT AND COMPUTER-READABLE CARRIER MEDIUM
The disclosure relates to a method for monitoring usage of at least one application executed within an operating system of an electronic device. The method includes at least one iteration of, while a processing condition is not satisfied, determining a video event associated with a current application and storing the video event in a data structure, delivering a set of video events. The method further includes, once the processing condition is satisfied, determining a past time slot, calling an usage statistics API provided on the operating system, delivering a set of application events representative of whether an application has been put in system foreground or system background, retrieving application events that have occurred during the past time slot, retrieving video events that have occurred during the past time slot, chronologically ordering the retrieved application and video events, and delivering a consolidated set of ordered events.
Application tune manifests and tune state recovery
In accordance with one or more aspects, a request to run an application is received. The application has an associated tune manifest that identifies one or more resources that the application may use. The tune manifest is compared to a device resource record, and a check is made, based at least in part on the comparing, whether the one or more resources identified in the tune manifest can be satisfied by the device. If the one or more resources identified in the tune manifest can be satisfied by the device, then the application is run; otherwise, a notification of a conflict between the application and the device is presented. Additionally, when the application exits, a device tune state that identifies a content source to which the device was tuned prior to running the application can be retrieved and the device restored to this device tune state.
VIDEO REPRODUCTION APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD THEREOF, AND COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM STORING PROGRAM
The present invention is directed to a technique capable of preventing resources from being wastefully used due to continuous reproduction of video data which cannot be viewed by a user as the video data does not exist in a display range of a window or preventing the user from missing the video data. A CPU of a video transmission apparatus determines whether a reproduction frame of video data during reproduction is within a display range of a window. As a result of the determination, if the reproduction frame is not within the display range, the reproduction of the video data is stopped and a reproduction position is stored.
MEDIA CONTENT RECEPTION AND PLAYBACK CONTROL
A receiving device and a method for controlling playback of a media content stream, the receiving device comprising a media player and being associated with a conditional access module is configured to receive, process and play back the media content stream. The receiving device comprises a service selection module configured to receive a user command during playback of a current media content stream and to forward the user command to a media content stream input selector included in the conditional access module. The media content stream input selector is configured to stop reception of the current media content stream and to switch to an input receiving an additional media content stream at reception of the user command, the additional content media stream containing at least one chunk to be injected into the current media content stream, said at least one chunk being configured to pause playback of the current media stream at a time point following reception of the user command.
Device, Method, and Graphical User Interface for Media Playback
In accordance with some embodiments, a method includes displaying a representation of a first automatically-generated playlist, the representation of the first automatically-generated playlist including representations of a first set of media items selected for inclusion in the first automatically-generated playlist based on first playlist generation criteria for the first automatically-generated playlist. While displaying the first automatically-generated playlist, detecting user interaction with the representations of the first set of media items, and then detecting that a first update criterion for the first automatically-generated playlist has been met. In response, the method includes updating the first set of media items based on the first playlist generation criteria and the user interaction with the representations of the first set of media items—by adding or removing one or more removed media items from the first set of media items, and/or maintaining media items in the first set of media items.
RECORDING AND BROADCASTING APPLICATION VISUAL OUTPUT
The present disclosure generally relates to sharing application visual output. In some examples, a user of a first electronic device selects a second electronic device with which to share visual out data of an application task. In some examples, a user selects a broadcast application from one or more broadcast applications identified by the electronic device for broadcasting the visual output of an application task.
REDUCTION OF STARTUP TIME IN REMOTE HLS
A method is provided for streaming transcoded HLS video from a video asset to allow a minimum startup delay time. A method includes pre-transcoding a first number of the HLS chunks. Then, once a request is received from a remote HLS client for the HLS video asset, transmitting a number of the pre-transcoded chunks to the remote HLS player. The pre-transcoded chunks are transmitted during a startup period until real-time transcoded chunks can be received and processed by the remote HLS player at a time position to allow seamless transition from the pre-transcoded chunks.
METHODS FOR SERVING INTERACTIVE CONTENT TO A USER
One variation of a method for serving interactive content to a user includes, at a visual element inserted into a document accessed by a computing device: loading a first frame from a digital video; in response to a scroll-down event that moves the visual element upward from a bottom of a window rendered on the computing device toward a top of the window, seeking from the first frame through a subset of frames in the digital video in a first direction at a rate corresponding to a scroll rate of the scroll-down event, the subset of frames spanning a duration of the digital video corresponding to a length of the scroll-down event; and, in response to termination of the scroll-down event with the visual element remaining in view within the window, playing the digital video forward from a last frame in the subset of frames in the digital video.
Advertisement Tracking
Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for determining the efficacy of an advertisement are described herein. A computing device may receive an advertisement from an advertisement server. The computing device may determine advertisement information associated with the presentation of the advertisement. The advertisement information may be sent to the advertisement server.
Electronic device and method for pausing video during playback
A method for pausing a video during playback in an electronic device includes detecting that a video playing interface within a first user interface is covered by a second user interface, upon such detection, calculating a coverage ratio of the second user interface to the video playing interface, and determining that the coverage ratio is greater than a predetermined value, upon such determination, pausing the playing of the video.
