DETERMINING STATE SIGNATURES FOR CONSUMER ELECTRONIC DEVICES COUPLED TO AN AUDIO/VIDEO SWITCH
Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for automatically determining a state signature for consumer electronic device(s) coupled to a switching device and/or other devices communicatively coupled to the consumer electronic device(s). The state signature is indicative of functional state(s) in which the consumer electronic device(s) are in. Such states include a power state, a proximity state, a communication state, and/or an operational state of the consumer electronic device(s). Based on the state signature(s), the switching device may infer which of the consumer electronic device(s) the user would like to use (or is using) and cause action(s) to be performed. Such actions include automatically switching to the AV port(s) to which such consumer electronic device(s) are connected, transmitting command(s) to such consumer electronic device(s), transmitting a notification message to such consumer electronic device(s), etc.
Application for in-field discovery, diagnosis and repair of a set-top device
A method for performing in-field discovery, diagnosis and/or repair of a set-top device includes the steps of: determining whether at least a first set-top device is non-responsive to a head-end via a communication channel established between the head-end and the first set-top device; executing a search and rescue (SAR) module on the first set-top device when it is determined that the first set-top device is non-responsive to the head-end; and re-establishing communications between the first set-top device and the head-end by the SAR module executing on the first set-top device.
NETWORK SERVICE EXPOSURE METHOD AND APPARATUS UTILIZING THE SAME
A machine type communication (MTC) gateway device is operable to provide usage type information to a 3GPP network entity and an application out of the 3GPP network. The disclosed MTC gateway device and base station provide an enhanced monitoring response with an enhanced positioning granularity to a position monitoring request. Exposure of usage type and subscription information associated with a user equipment (UE) device is a first step to virtual network function and network slice related provisioning and dedicated core network related provisioning for the UE device. Providing UE usage type through a network exposure function to a third party application enables the third party application to adapt for the usage type.
SMART DEVICE DETECTION FOR DISPLAY DEVICES
A system, method, and computer-readable medium for performing an intelligent display device detection operation. With the intelligent display device detection operation even if a user has not turned on a second information handling system, the display device automatically switch a video input from a first information handling system to the second information handling system when the second information handling system is coupled to the display device. When the user powers on the second information handling system, a video stream provided by the second information handling system is immediately presented on the display device. In certain embodiments, the intelligent display device detection operation comprises one or more of a signal detection operation which detects which input port is transmitting a signal and a cable detection operation which detects which input port is coupled to a cable.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCING INTERFERENCE FROM CONTENT PLAY IN MULTI-DEVICE ENVIRONMENT
Systems and methods for reducing interference between content play and video recording among multiple devices located proximate to each other. Microphones of devices recording video are muted, or content play is interrupted, according to the actions of a majority of nearby devices. For example, if most devices are recording video, content play may be interrupted to prevent the video from unintentionally recording unwanted sounds from play of the content. Conversely, if most devices are not recording video, only those devices which are may have their microphones muted. Actions to reduce interference may be taken according to the current behavior of a majority of proximate devices.
CONTENT PLAYBACK APPARATUS, CONTENT PLAYBACK SYSTEM, CONTENT INFORMATION PROGRAM, AND CONTENT PLAYBACK METHOD
A content reproduction apparatus includes: an information receiving unit that receives first information from a first user terminal capable of providing a first content, the first information including the first content, the information receiving unit receiving second information from a second user terminal capable of providing a second content, the second information including the second content; a list transmission unit that transmits a shared list to the first user terminal, the shared list being created based on the first and second information and including information indicating the first and second contents; a reproduction request receiving unit that receives, from the first user terminal, a request of one of the first and second contents; and a reproduction unit that acquires the requested content from a user terminal that is capable of providing the requested content that is one of the first and second user terminals, and reproduces the acquired content.
Determining media device activation based on frequency response analysis
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture (e.g., physical storage media) to determine media device activation based on frequency response analysis are disclosed. Example methods disclosed herein include determining a reference frequency response based on first frequency values of an audio signal used to perform watermark detection for a first time interval during which a media device has been determined to be active. Such example methods also include determining a second frequency response based on second frequency values of the audio signal used to perform watermark detection for a second time interval different from the first time interval. Such example methods further include comparing the second frequency response with the reference frequency response to determine whether the media device was active during the second time interval.
Systems, methods and apparatus for transmitting data over a voice channel of a wireless telephone network
The various embodiments described herein generally provide apparatus, systems and methods which facilitate the transmission of data between a client device and a remote device over a wireless telephone network. More particularly, data from a client device is modulated into an audio signal and transmitted to a wireless telephone. The wireless telephone receives the audio signal and places a phone call to a remote device over a wireless telephone network. During the phone call, the wireless telephone transmits the audio signal across a voice channel of the wireless telephone network to the remote device. The remote device receives and decodes the audio signal to extract the transmitted data.
Pairing a set-top box and personal computing device using a visual code
Embodiments are configured in part to pair or associate a portable or personal computing device with a set-top box (STB) to enable use of the paired device with an associated STB. Processing of a displayed visual code can be used to establish a pairing relationship and allow a paired STB to process navigation, control, and/or other commands from a paired device.
DISPLAY DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING ONE OR MORE HOME APPLIANCES IN CONSIDERATION OF VIEWING SITUATION
According to an embodiment of the present invention, a display device for controlling one or more home appliances in consideration of a viewing situation can include: a display unit; a storage unit configured to store a learned usage pattern inference model by using a deep learning algorithm or a machine learning algorithm; a user input interface unit configured to receive a viewing event; and a control unit configured to obtain a viewing pattern from the received viewing event, to use the usage pattern inference model to obtain a usage pattern of the one or more home appliances from the obtained viewing pattern, and to display, on the display unit, usage recommendation information indicating the obtained usage pattern.
